What? He threw bombs to Flipper.

Tim Couch and Rick Mirer were the worst probably ever. They were trying to play in a league that still threw downfield but they couldn't.

Then it became dink and dunk in the mid-2000s.

Warren Moon is always mentioned in discussions of strongest arm in NFL history.

you mean the guy who threw the ball a mile?

The guy who is in the Top 10 of yards per completion?

Namath had a lot of flaws, namely INTs, but stretching the field wasn't one of them. It's also why he had so many incompletitions and INTs...in the rough days of defense.

he didn't make the safe pass.

flutie never had a arm stength question. It was his height that scared people away. Maybe you mean the new England years?

Joe Namath was not a dink and dunk QB.

This list should begin and end with Ken Anderson. The death by a thousand cuts West Coast Offense was more or less invented because of his noodle arm

You're not going to find a real old guy in Career Yards per pass rate at the low end.

In fact, all of the Top 10 guys are old guys.

Sid Luckman, Otto Graham, Norm Van Brocklin, Johnny U, the Mad Bomber, Eddie LaBaron, Bobby Layne, Joe Namath...That's your top 10.

They are all between 15.0 - 16.5 yards per completion.

Everyone from 130-200 at the bottom of the list started their careers in the 1990's or after.

Your Top 100 are all 60's/70's/80's guys.

Your Top 150 includes the 90's.

Your bottom 70 is the last 20 years.

Everyone says Phil Simms was a game manager who just dumped it to his running backs in the 80's like Otis Anderson.

Phil Simms is at 13.0 yards.

Sid Luckman 16.2 yards.

Joe Namath 14.7 yards.

Johnny U 14.2 yards.

Roger Staubach 13.5 yards.

Jim Plunkett at 13.3 yards.

Dan Fouts 13.1 yards.

Boomer 12.8 yards.

Cam Newton 12.7 yards. (he's the only modern QB playing right now that is hanging with the 70's/80's guys in terms of these numbers)

Joe Montana is at 12.0 yards.

Huge gap...

#133- Tom Brady is at 11.7 yards.

#133 - Peyton Manning is at 11.7 yards.

#157 - Drew Brees is at 11.3 yards.
