Did the Carolina Panthers have the shortest championship window in NFL history?

1 season.

Any teams with less than that ever? Maybe 12 games before someone got injured?

What window? No one outside of Carolina expected them to beat San Francisco

The Jets in 2008? Everyone thought Favre would turn them into a legit contender, they started off pretty good 8-3 iirc and then shat the bed.

edit: yes they made the afc championship the next two years somehow but they really had no chance of winning a superbowl those two years imo

Hmmm. That's the kind of thing I'm asking about. Though them making AFC title games means their window was open..

They lost their entire WR corps

Lost a lot of their DBfield

No more steve smith

So yes...last place in the division is a real possibility

2008 Titans team qualifies as a candidate here. 13-3, best record in NFL. Haven't been to playoffs since.

Pretty good one. Though they did make the playoffs the year before in 2007.

I can't understand what the Panthers are thinking at wide receiver.

that cutting an aging Steve Smith and wildly inconsistent Brandon Lafell in favor of some decent veterans with similar production in recent years and a freakishly tall rookie can't hurt things much

especially when we have no money to sign any top wideouts now if we want to keep Cam, Luke, Hardy/Johnson on the team in the future
