The money makes sense to me with the current cap, but I'm kind of suprised with him re-uping with Sacramento
quote:

CSN California has confirmed through a league source that the two sides have tossed around numbers and that barring a late change in direction by either side, Cousins intends to sign a massive, max-money extension, estimated at roughly $207 million during the offseason that will keep the big man in a Kings uniform long-term.

You would think he would want a change of scenery from that crazy owner who will fire a coach on a whim

And fire any coach that Demarcus doesn't like.

Not surprising IMO. Reportedly he really likes living there And has been recruiting other players to join him.

Why the hell would he stay? He looks miserable there most of the time.

Why wouldn't he look to go to Dallas? Cuban's crazy too but at least he cares about winning. With no state tax the money won't be that far off.

Lots of people like living places where other people would say there's not much to do.

How much could he have gotten by signing with another team?

Under the new CBA, players can get a SUBSTANTIAL amount more from their teams and sign early, etc.

I think I read that Anthony Davis, for instance, can make an extra FIFTY MILLION Dollars on his next contract from the Pels, and sign it a year earlier.

We are talking generational money. Now, there is nothing stopping a player from trying to force a trade after they sign that.

In fairness, I don't think there's a place in the world where Cousins wouldn't "look miserable"

I do agree though, just couldn't resist going for the joke.

Maybe now he can afford to get on some antidepressants.
