Whatever, even if he was polite as can be, you can't fault a cashier for not serving you if you can't provide ID with a credit card.

Exactly.

I have "Request ID" on the back of may cards, but 95% of the time the cashier doesn't ask

I never get carded at chicfila when using a credt card but I guess they have to be a little but more suspicious in urban areas and with a name like that.

If you use a credit card in Highland Park with the name Deion Sanders on it, you're getting carded.

but if you were carded and didnt have i.d. would you be really upset? I mean, you should have to prove identification before using it.....no wonder i.d. theft is so rampant.

He wasn't committing ID theft. And if that chick-fil-a doesn't card every single patron who uses a credit or bank card, then there is a problem.

I can't remember a time that I was asked for ID when using a card.

yeah

it seems that they took it another step and accused him of being a thief BECAUSE of his famous name

if we forget our ID, then we just can't use the card (sometimes). cops don't hassle us

it's not that bad of a situation. like it was said earlier, if your card says "deion sanders" you're goin to get carded

it's about the kid's name and nothing else

What some people aren't going to understand is the location of where this happened.

also, if someone asks for your id and you don't have it and you say "google me"... Yeah, that's not gonna help your situation...

This is going to to turn into a race issue when it shouldn't be. Doesn't matter if an establishment doesn't card 99% of the patrons; if they card you, and you can't provide ID...too bad so sad.

You gonna tell the police officer that gives you a speeding ticket how biased he is for giving you a ticket and not the other 10 people before you? Nope.

I promise you if someone had stolen that card, tried to use it and Chic-fil-a didn't card the person, they would be in an uproar about not checking ID's.

It has nothing to do with race. It has to do with his name.

Same here. Have done that for years, and with the same results as you. What is truly amazing is that cashiers have often actually looked at the back of the card while I am holding my DL in my hand and never even looked at me or requested to see the ID. In most stores these days the cashiers' all have cameras on them and they know they are supposed to look at the sig, so I believe they often "look at" the card to go through the motions, and think "Request ID" is just another weird name, lol. (When someone DOES actually request it, I make it a point to thank them and have even dropped by the service desk to point out that Sam or Mabel on Lane 9 is alert and thinking. I do not "rat out" those that don't, of course , because most are underpaid and take a lot of shite from both customers and management anyways.)
