After avoiding the Sweep in Seattle, the Astros travel to Anaheim for 3 against the Angels, whose offense has been struggling a bit recently desite Albert Pujols hitting a ton of homers recently. Tonight it's Obie (2-1, 2.73) against Hector Santana (4-4, 2.77)
Team notes:
-Springer has raises his average from .188 after May 19th to .287, and is showing the superstar game we all dreamed of
-Correa didn't have the best series offensively in Seattle, so his average has dipped to a pedestrian .304, but his defense has been incredible
-If Altuve comes back tonight, he (jokingly) has said he will bat 8th as not to disrupt the Springer-Correa 1-2 punch
Farm notes:
-Tony Kemp is hiting .375 in triple A
Appel threw 7 scoreless last night for Corpus, who are 48-20, despite losing Correa, LMJ and VV. They're also about to get an influx of talent since AJ Reed has mastered Lancaster and should be up after the A+ All Star game along with Brett Phillips

Well, Kemp wouldn't bat leadoff in this lineup. Not right now.
Not with the way Springer is crushing.
Bat him 9th.
Could you imagine:
8 Altuve
9 Kemp
1 Springer
2 Correa

When I saw this mentioned in McTaggert's article I didn't take it as a serious comment. Is it actually supposed to happen or is my sarcasm meter slow this morning?

Yeah I missed that he said it jokingly, just saw that a few minutes ago. He would probably go back to 3rd like he was before he pulled the hammy the 2nd time

Promotions for Appel and Fisher in the same year?
I found Ryno...

Man.
I can't believe that. Every promotion Appel has gotten, has not been due to him actually impressing enough to warrant a call up.
I mean are we teaching him the knuckleball or something?

Fisher will look good in a Phillies uniform

I'm starting to get worried about when they call up King Kemp because of major league rules. Will they let him simply float over the bases since he walks on air?

Isn't the pitching coach in AA one of the best in our system?
This is from that article, he has been a lot better and 4 of his last earned runs were from solo homeruns. Even though that's not good because giving up a homerun is the worst thing a pitcher can do, it means he is missing a few times during the game rather than getting the shite beat out of him for 5 innings.
quote:
Appel’s ERA ballooned to 6.03 on May 22. In five starts since then, the righthander and former first overall pick has been excellent, allowing seven earned runs in 29 innings — good for a 2.14 ERA — with 24 strikeouts and just eight walks. He’s lowered his overall ERA to 4.26.

Yeah, it's Doug Brocail. He gets rave reviews as a coach.
