Interesting stuff on Shark. His BABIP is 31 points higher this year than his career mark. His K rate is also down a few points.

Has his velocity gone down? If not I think he could be a better candidate than I originally thought

Saw one article saying he has not been throwing his four-seam fastball inside enough and relied too much on his cutter.

Samardjiza's ERA/FIP/xFIP are 4.56/3.65/3.83 so that would imply he has been better than his ERA would lead you to believe

I've never been a samardjiza fan for some reason. But he is currently pitching with a very, very bad defense behind him right now. Thats one of the reasons why his era is higher than what it should be.

Sounds like he'd fit right in with this staff then!

On the surface, it doesn't seem like Samardzija would carry much trade value with a 4-4 record and an accompanying ERA of 4.67, but there's a factor at play that's causing his numbers to inflate; the horrid defense of the White Sox. If we use UZR (Ultimate Zone Rating), they're the 27th worst fielding team in baseball with a rating of -22.0, and if we use DRS (Defensive Runs Saved) they're the absolute worst in MLB, and have cost themselves 50 runs thus far. A win is roughly worth 9 runs, meaning that based on defensive ineptitude alone, Chicago has lost roughly 5.5 games already. Although Samardzija hasn't been as good as he was in 2014, his FIP of 3.66, and his SIERA of 3.74 suggests that he'll perform much better if he can find himself on a team with better defenders.

There may be some truth to that but defensive statistics are sketchy to me

LSUGranddad

For the past few years he comes in the DAT a couple times per season. Bitches about how shitty the team is, rememberEd the good ole days, shook his fist and left. Curiously he hasn't joined us this season.

I think when it's all said and done, we acquire 3 guys.

Chen for Hoes & Co.

Kazmir/Clippard for a mystery package

Has there been any smoke about Chen? I wouldn't think a contending team would trade a starter with a sub 3 ERA
