I wish we could have just left yesterday's game as a blowout. The comeback tease bothered me. What bothered me more was the presence and complete incompetence of Carter. (Yes, I will continue to complain until he is gone.)

VV and Fields were awful yesterday, combined in 1.1 innings pitched:

12 batters faced, 5 hits, 3 BBs, 6 ER's.

I think we're going to beat Sonny Gray tonight.

Kazmir needs to go to 7 today. This bullpen has been terrible lately.

This team seems to have a pattern of handling the "good" pitching better than the bums. We did alright with King Felix, Greinke, Kershaw, and some others that I'm probably forgetting.

We have beaten Gray this season, but to be fair he absolutely demolished us the last time we faced him in Oakland

I've begun the process of accepting that we're going to blow our lead on this road trip. I've gone through all the stages.

Denial: The Rangers are just hot right now. They're not really that good and they'll fade.

Anger: frick this team! Just a bunch of striking out assholes who couldn't get a runner home from third with less than 2 outs if they were playing tball.

Bargaining: If we could just play well on the road. Just take advantage of playing the bad teams. Come on!

Depression: I'm not watching. What's the point? Some no name piece of garbage with an ERA of 4.80 will just pitch 6 innings of 1 run ball with a career high in strikeouts.

Acceptance: We've had a lot of fun this year. Exceeded my early expectations. Maybe we'll still make the wild card game.

I think we can hang on. The Rangers aren't that much better of a team than us. They might have a better lineup, but ours has produced more runs. We also have a much better pitching staff.

Since the All-Star Break:

Astros: 26-21
Rangers: 30-18

They're 3 game sweep is essentially the difference.

Just need to keep pitching well, the offense comes and goes.

Can't link from my phone, but Joaquin Andujar passed away. It's hard to believe he was 62.

They aren't better than the Astros period. Houston has outscored its opponents by 103 runs, 3rd in MLB. Their place at the top of the standings reflects that.

The Rangers have been outscored by 29, good for 20th in MLB, right behind last place Boston. Although winning 1 run games is a sign of a good ball club, they also have 25 1-run game wins, 5th most in baseball.

Yes, they upgraded their rotation with Hamels but they've been incredibly lucky plus they've gone 8-4 against Houston.

Houston isn't supposed to be in 1st place this year but with the season they've had, it's going to be a heartbreaker if they blow this lead to Texas.

I don't think the Rangers are better than us, but they are playing better than us, currently. But the margin isn't huge.

I think we'll be ok, George is finally healthy, Jed is healthy, Gomez is swinging it better lately, even Jake has been putting together some good AB's.

ETA: 1 more winning month is all we need.

Until we actually lose first place I won't be worried about it. I have faith that the team knows what they need to do.

Solid lineup. I think I'd like to see Tucker get some DH starts
