No longer holding a position in the playoffs, the Astros send the lately inconsistent Kazmir to the hill to battle the Mariners and their road demons. The Mariners will counter with he who cannot be named. FTR, beginning today, I plan to start every DAT for the rest of the year, if you know what I mean.

My meltdown last night rivaled Pat Neshek for biggest in September.

I enjoyed it.

I do not enjoy Pat Neshek appearances.

Astros don't win on the road, Kazmir doesn't win as an Astro, and the Mariners are +170?

I'll be damned.

They might win this one.

All we need now is Conger in the lineup w Carter at first, Gattis in left, and Correa scratched w a sprained penis after a night out w Oriental women in Seattle to seal the deal.

I knew I should have gone to this series. $10 bleacher seats, Asian girls, and Neshek!

I had a good chuckle about it when I woke up and skimmed through the last few pages of the thread. Bravo, sir.

ETA: I've accepted we aren't going to make the playoffs, and I'm ok with it. Football season is ramping up so it takes my attention away a little bit. Plus with these late West Coast games I've been going to bed before they even start.

I had done the same, until last night. I stayed up and watched the whole thing, had a silent melt, and don't feel like being at work today.

I'm really nervous again about Kazmir tonight. I can't for the life of me figure out why he's been so bad. His velo is right where it was whenever he was first acquired, his location for the most part has been alright it seems. I've said it a few time but I think it's a confidence issue with his secondary pitches. I don't think he trusts them which makes him throw more fastballs in 2 strike counts allowing guys to foul them off and extend at bats and run his pitch count up. He needs to come out and have two or three quick efficient innings the bullpen and team need it.

Astros still with a chance to take this series which is a huge win considering the road woes this year. Absolutely have to get some help from the A's this afternoon.

Kazmir's throws to the bases are right up there w Jared Poche's.

That should give you a little insight to his problems w control.

His inability to put batters away when ahead in the count has been his undoing.

Yep Mariners should apply pressure early and try a bunt for a hit to test him if they were smart. He's a disaster fielding the ball and making a throw to first.

Agreed he just can't seem to generate swings and misses or soft contact often enough when ahead.

ETA: I don't think the A's are even trying anymore. They surely have someone better than Zito that can pitch
