This is my first time starting the DAT. Hopefully it brings positive trends.

We need to get the W with our ace on the mound and get to .500 on the road trip

Tough loss last night, shake it off.

Now this is a big game because no one wants to get swept by the A's.

Bregman will be up friday. The bigger question is will we go get legit relief help from the left side and also call up hoyt?

The other question is will lunhow have the nuts to replace fires with musgrove. There is no good in continuing to run him out there. You have to have vision and balls to win. Make the tough moves and be willing to acknowledge what you have won't be enough.

Musgrove certainly had a good showing last night.

I believe he will make a real run at a replacement via trade.

If he isn't up Friday, Luhnow is a moron.

I'm assuming. We have an off day tomorrow. The offense is in big need. He has nothing to proove at AAA.

Lunhow said flat out today we aren't trading for position players. LF and CF and DH is a disaster.

Wouldn't be shocked if they announce the move tonight after the game.

I'm hearing there's a very good chance Alex is up Friday. But we've heard this before, let's just hope.

I think JL is waiting to make the Musgrove move until.after the trade deadline to see how things shake out. If he's not in our rotation in august it should be because we couldn't trade for an upper rotation starter.

Would the white Sox take Moran Martes reed and one other lower minors prospect like Bostic for sale? I think they would have to think about it. We could throw in fiers so they have a controllable sp.

Yeah, I think they would listen. But there's a much better chance they'd trade Quintana instead so that their fans don't freak out. I'd that that lefty in a second.

Quintana would be incredible. He and Gattis may have to hug it out a little bit though.

I think they'd make nice with each other.

We need a LOOGY for at least the rest of the season, but it would be better to get one with at extra control years because we have to assume the farm isn't providing one anytime soon.

Quintana is a legit TOR pitcher. Guys like him or Archer are what we need. I think the Sox are gonna be sellers, and another legit LHP in the rotation is ideal.

I say we need another veteran bat for this year to DH so I bang the drum for Beltran. Next year, guys like Reed and White will be ready to DH and play first. We have Valbuena for now and need another legit veteran. If not, give White and Tucker another shot because Reed isn't ready.

What about Jay Bruce for a lefty DH? People are saying he can be had for a mid-level prospect

ETA: If Beltran is a no-go

Lunhow said today not likely at all they would trade for position players. Using any bullets on putching..but didn't sound optimistic any deals would actually get done. It's a sellers market and he got burned last year.

Bruce has another year of control at $13 million so he is going to cost a lot more in a trade than Beltran or another rental like Pearce who will also get traded.

Also,

Dave Cameron (Fangraphs) thoughts on what he thinks the Cardinals punishment will be:

quote:

Loss of something like 3-5 first round picks, but bans on signing international free agents for some extended period of time, and a huge fine.

Wow.

True, but with the Reds trying to rebuild, they may be willing to eat some of the salary.
