Calling up J Sing creates a log jam. I don't agree that he should eat into Gattis playing time. Gattis does lead the team in RBI. Carter needs to Gtfo though. I think calLing up Singleton sends the message that they've had enough of Carter

Luhnow mentioned both, but this is mostly about 1B moving forward. They will get Singleton ABs to see where he's at (or to showcase him for a trade).

This is clearly a move aimed at Carter. The light treading in regard to Carter on TCB thread is hilarious to me. I swear they're all women who love him because 37 long balls. They seriously think he's the guy from the 3 hot months last year instead of the guy hes actually been for the better part of 2.5 years.
Sure he proved he's capable of getting hot and hitting .230-.250 with a bunch of bombs. But overall he's an inconsistent hitter who will struggle to hit .210 will likely hit 25-30 Homers and strikeout 200 times. He's a really poor man's Ryan Howard

Would be huge if Singleton could overtake Carter and hit like we've hoped he would. His career minor league (almost 2200 AB's) OB% is .387.
Just looking through his stats, God damn he struck out a lot while he was up. 134 K's in 310 AB's. 43% compared to 26% in the minors.

Unless we save big on eshleman I don't think we sign sandavol. We seemed to barely have enough for daz, why are we paying overslot on a reliever?

They have enough to sign Sandoval because they can go $864,000 over their allotment without penalty. I assume they get him unless Eshelman also gets over slot, but I highly doubt it.

Assuming Eshelman signs for slot, they have right at $4 million for Daz, not counting the $864,000 they can go over. I'm pretty sure Eshelman signs under slot (maybe. less than $1 million).
