DAT: 5/8 Let's get the hell out of Detroit Edition

The Washington Post did a nice article about just how bad we suck with graphs and stuff. See it HERE.
With all that being said, it's time for a game of "Be The GM." I pose the following question to my fellow DATters: How do we make this team better today? Post your ideal scenario.
My idea:
1. The first goes without saying. Call up Singleton as soon as the Super 2 date comes.
2. Find a moderately priced LF that we can package a trade for. I'm willing to give up the following:
Chris Carter (MLB)
Alex Presley (MLB)
Nolan Fontana (AA--#8 ranked prospect in Astros system)
3. Let's find a free agent out there with a stick that can DH for us. There's got to be somebody. If there's not a viable free agent option, then to hell with it. I won't give up anything more than what I've already listed. With the only exception being Krauss and Grossman. So maybe one of those guys and a cash consideration or PTBNL.
4. Move Cosart to the closer role. Call up Folty to take his place in the rotation.
5. The Bullpen: I really don't think there's anything we could do to make these guys any better this season. Hopefully our injured guys (White, Moylan, Wojo, Crain) will replace some of the crapfest that we've been trotting out there.
That's 2 AAA callups, one trade and one FA acquisition. I don't think that's unreasonable, and I think it would instantly make us better, assuming that Castro, Altuve, Fowler, Springer, Dominguez, Villar all get their shite together.
Considering all the moves stated above we'd look something like this:
Altuve 2B
Fowler CF
Castro C
Carter/Presley/Fontana Trade LF
Free Agent DH
Singleton 1B
Springer RF
Dominguez 3B
Villar SS
Rotation:
Feldman
Folty
Obie
Peacock
Keuchel
Bullpen:
Cosart
Qualls
Crain
Albers
White
Jabroni
The Lefty of your choice

Go buy MLB the show. Play it. Throw perfectly timed meter pitches on the inside corner while the bullpen hangs it over the middle and it gets jacked and you lose the game you have been playing for the last hour and a half.
Then realize that the game developers are sim gameplay geniuses.

1) frick the future. We need to win now. We are on the verge of a fourth consecutive 100 loss season. Start calling up prospects and lets see what they can do.
2) Need veterans. Probably have to wait till the second half of the season but stop being cheap. Get a couple of 27-32 year old above average hitters that we can hold for 2-4 years to allow time for the young studs to mature around.
3)
4) prayer...

I agree with what TXGunslinger10 said.
-My thing is we need to call up Singleton ASAP. He's done all he could in AAA and let him cut his teeth in the Majors.
-2nd get rid of Carter and get another DH. Carter has 42 Strike Outs in 102 AB. There has to be someone out there that does not suck as bad as Carter does.
3rd get Presley out of there and get a decent LF. If we need to trade for one and hell pull a guy up from AAA. Can't get any worse than it is now.
Thing is the team this season has better staring pitching than in past seasons however we can't score runs to save our lives. You can't tell by our pitchers win but they have kept us in games only to have no run support or have people in the bullpen (Fields) choke. If we can get some more production out of our lineup, get a new DH and LF I think we should show improvement.

That's my big thing BamaHater.
I just want to see improvement. And outside of the starting rotation, nobody is improving.

Yup minus the starting pitching we have shown no improvement.

First year back following baseball.
Any examples of veteran players that have good chances of being put out there around the deadline?
Only team I have followed last couple years is my beloved Astros, and know that the ownership has got to stop being cheap.

Still too early to say. We'll start to get a better idea in a few weeks

1. Bo. You're fired. John Mallee, you're fired.
2. Singleton, come on up to Houston. Domingo, you're next. Preston will get your Sept. call up.
3. Khris Karter. You're fricking fired.

Trust the plan. Stay cheap, suck for the next 5 years, load up #1 picks that may or may not pan out, and reap the rewards down the road.

Payrolls - Gap between last, second to last, and third to last
I know this is old news, but I just can not believe it

I really don't think we're all that far away from being decent. I really don't. I think our talent is beginning to surface in some areas, and then we all know what our problem areas are that need to be addressed.
The biggest problem IMO is a lack of leadership. From Bo, all the way down to Feldman & Crain being on the DL

I know you're just being an arse, but my fellow astrotards are so impatient.
They do have that right, though. But it won't be five years from now.
I see the Astros being very competitive in 2016.

It's the hitting. I'm about tired of seeing games elsewhere where teams are winning by 4-5 runs every week here and there.
Every day, I'll look at the Astros and it's 2-1 in the 8th inning because they can't hit.
Mallee was obviously fired from the Marlins for a reason and if this production is part of it, I can see why he was fired. They are absolutely terrible at the plate. There just seems like there's been nothing done to fix it. That falls on both Mallee and Porter.

Consecutive 100 loss seasons, another 100 loss season looming, a 44 million dollar payroll, and you're excited
We all hope they are, but it isn't happening.

I agree Prom. Mallee has been a huge disappointment thus far.
That said, he can't go out and swing the bat for these guys.

I don't know about very competitive, but I can see them hovering around .500 by 2016... if they open up their wallets.
The coaches are being made the scapegoats here. Let's get real here, they were put into an impossible position. They were set up to fail.

I agree. Can't polish a turd.
Doesn't help that they are incompetent as well.
