He's a bigger Rondo that might actually have an offensive game.

I've alwyas thought he was a tad overrated. I never thought i'd see the day he went 2nd overall in a deep draft. He got drafted basically off that dope arse spin pass

Harden is more skilled than Russell... he's.. you know who he really reminds me of, Larry Hughes who played for the Sixers back in the day. Kinda a tweaner, really a 2, but the try to play him at the one, good athlete, not a great one, good handles not great, good passer not great, etc. He just does a lot of things really good and that's good.. if you're the 10th pick in the draft and not drafted over Oakfor

They are basically putting their franchises back on a shooting guard's back who is playing point guard and is neither an elite athlete, an elite passer or an elite shooter.

Plus if you put an athletic guy on him and get in his face he gets rattled.

he's not lol. he's a 6'5 athletic volume scorer with good court vision and above avg handles for a 2 and he's a lefty.

he's not even the best pure shooting freshman SG in the country Melo Tremble would shoot his arse out the gym

"Not a bigtime athlete. His length helps him to defend but he's a below average run/jump athlete by NBA standards." (not an elite athlete)

"Like most young guards, can use some work on his off hand and shot selection." (not an elite ball handler)

"Shot is good, although he may need to tweak his release slightly, in order to extend his range out to NBA 3. He tends to turn into his shot slightly, and should work on ironing out his form." (not an elite shooter)

lakers basically just picked up a super duper good 6th man for the next decade

Booker to me was the most underrated person in the entire draft becuase he is an ELITE shooter and gets in your arse on defense. Booker is another Alan Houston

A better comparison would be Westbrook

No that is a horrible comparison. He is more like Harden then anyone. Mudiay is the crazy athlete PG in this draft.

His Stat line as a freshman could be his year two stating in the NBA.

If the Lakers are still horrible, sure.

I think LA needs to prioritize Love as the desired free agent to clear the middle for Randle and Russell.

So you want to start Love at Center or Randle at the 3?

At nearly 20-6-6 as a freshman he was awesome

I don't know how he got six assists with teammates that can't shoot.

Alright so I have watched him all year and I was very surprised. You are right that he is not a freak athlete. He does have some freak size of course for his ability though.

Love me some Melo Trimble* and you are talking out of your arse. Trimble shot the 3 .001(.412 to .411) better and shot about 80 less 3's.

His ball handling blew my mind though. Some of it seemed almost unnecessary, but he will just mature and get better at it. It is scary.

I do not like the Westbrook comparison because of athleticism, but I think that his numbers will best compare to Westbrook's numbers.

You should reexamine Westbrook's numbers from this past season.

I am fully aware of what they are. I am not saying he comes into the league and does that next year. That is stupid. He will be a high scorer, high assist, and high rebound guy though as a PG. Like Westbrook. See where the comparison is?

Westbrook averaged a triple double for like the last 2 months of the season and is a top 5-7 player in the league. Sorry for being unwilling to jump to the conclusion that Russell will be a triple double threat at the deepest position in the league without seeing him play a minute in the league.

Alright I understand that. That was unbelievable and you should not think any player should hit those numbers.

I do think that Russell can turn into the kind of player that fills up the stat sheet like Westbrook. Not saying he kills it like Westbrook did this season, but in 4 to 5 years could avg over 20 points 8 assists and 7 boards. I would say that is around what you would expect from Westbrook right now in a given season.

I am also not saying this is a lock either. This is optimistic. I think he is the real deal.

I have two real worries with him. The defense scares me a bit. I fear him turning into Lillard, a guy who can put up all these numbers but as soon as he runs in to another elite guard he gets killed. Hell Beno Udrih was torching him in the playoffs before he fricked up his ankle. Hopefully it is something Russell can just get a lot better and it isn't because he isn't a great athlete. PG's today have to fight through screen after screen.

The other thing was how he played against good teams. Hopefully that was just due to how bad his teammates were.

I like him a lot. Just not ready to make all these crazy predictions about him just yet.

The PG position in the West is STACKED

He's got elite athleticism, just short of Westbrook and Rose level.

Actually, that is his biggest knock. Scouts feel that he doesn't have elite NBA level athleticism.
