On the eve of the Cubs first playoff game in seven years, let's remember how awesome this season has been. The Cubs were expected to win about 83 games this year, but they ended with the third best record in all of baseball at 97-65. That is incredible, especially considering the half of lineup are rookies. Rookie hitters are supposed to be below average ballplayers, but Bryant, Schwarber, Russell, Soler, and Baez have done a great job. They will only get better.

Bryant age 23
Schwarber age 22
Russell age 21
Soler age 23
Baez age 22

Joe Maddon has done a great job keeping this team loose and ready for the playoffs. Theo, Jed, and the rest of the front office have assembled an amazing team and a stocked farm. Bosio continues to work miracles with pitchers, and he has worked to develop the most unstoppable pitcher in the world right now.

Jake Arrieta is a man I trust my life with. I have never seen anyone this locked in. Arrieta has allowed 0 earned runs in nine of his last twelve starts. He should hopefully win the Cy Young, and he has destroyed Pittsburgh all season.

9/27 vs PIT 7 IP, 0 ER, 9/0 K/BB
9/16 @ PIT 8 IP, 1 ER, 5/1 K/BB
8/4 @ PIT 7 IP, 0 ER, 5/3 K/BB
5/17 vs PIT 7 IP, 1 ER, 7/1 K/BB
4/20 @ PIT 7 IP, 1 ER, 7/0 K/BB

As for our lineup, I am guessing we start with the following, but I am sure Maddon will use everyone able to gain every conceivable advantage.

vs RHP Gerrit Cole

CF S Dexter Fowler
LF L Kyle Schwarber
3B R Kris Bryant
1B L Anthony Rizzo
RF R Jorge Soler
C L Miguel Montero
2B R Starlin Castro
P R Jake Arrieta
SS R Addison Russell

So whatever happens tomorrow night, I am proud of this team, and I am hoping for the best. This is not 1984 or 2003; this is 2015. This team is ready to win, and let's hope we can share another game together after game 163.

That seems dumb. If Soler is starting, then start Coghlan. I would also be fine with Coghlan starting at 2B, but I see no reason to start LaStella.

Maddon has had analytics on this lineup for this particular game for weeks. He knows what gives them the best chance to win.

La Stella could start but him taking grounders at 3rd is meaningless. He's a utility player so that's his job

I'm traveling in Houston tonight and don't know what I'm gonna do.

I went to a BWW's for the Astros game last night and it was wild.

Why would Schwarber play an outfield spot he's never played before (I lied, he played 4 games this year in RF) in the playoff game?

I would have to assume Bryant would play RF and Schwarber LF.

This team actually won more regular season games than either of those.

The "we're playing with house money" line is legit. We weren't expected to be here. But now that we're here, with the hottest pitcher in baseball....I want to win!

Hes played there a couple times and started there in the last series in Milwaukee

I think it has to do with the dimensions of that ball park.

Not sure i'm ok with that much tinkering but now certainly isn't the time to start casting doubt.
