They are 6-2 this year and beating Neveda 45-28 with 10 mins lefft. Wyoming has been so bad lately that it is hard to even quantify what an outstanding ob he has done.

He was the North Dakota State HC till 2014.

Big fan of his but I wouldn't say it's been an "amazing" run yet.

Amazing compared to winning 2 games a year several years but yeah he's definitely too unproven for any big time HC gig.

What's more shocking is the job Davie has done at New Mexico.

Not really. For as long as I can remember (up until they got really bad sometime within the last 10 years) New Mexico was always a solid program, comparable to programs like la tech, Colorado state and Nevada.

Eh, UNM was solid in the mid-90's and early 2000's, but their overall history isn't that good. And Locksley absolutely nuked the program, which is what Davie had to clean up. I say it's shocking because I didn't think Davie could do it.

Locksley really set that program back. He is a fantastic recruiter, especially in the DC metro area but even questionable as a coordinator.

Yep. Locksley went 2-26 with a 2 point win over CSU and a 3 point win over Wyo. he was fired in game 4 of year 3 after losing to Sam Houston State. It's not inconceivable that he could have won 0 games as HC. They were that bad.

Hard to describe how bad Locksley was on and off the field

Yeah locksley had them at the level of New Mexico State which is beyond putrid. But with franchione and long they were a decent mwc team for a decent stretch which is where Davie has them back to.

Bohl is truly having an all-time season so far at Wyoming. They were picked preseason to finish dead last in the Mountain Division of MWC and now they have the inside track to win it and be in the conference title game. Hell, right now they still have a shot at a New Year's Day bowl game if Western Michigan drops one. Probably have to end up beating SDSU twice to do it, though.

No need to go too crazy, but he's proving he can win which we kind of already knew about him.

Wyoming is one of the toughest FBS jobs. It will be interesting to see if someone goes after him this year. If I'm Purdue I would strongly consider it

Oregon should hire Bohl, just because that would be the craziest offensive transition I can think of and Id love to see how it played out.

Am I wrong in remembering that he has some off the field issues that might preclude any serious power program ever touching him? Thought I remembered hearing something like that.

Interesting fact- Wyoming has the highest elevation of all Division I stadiums at over 7,200 feet.

How was Bohl so bad at Nebraska?

Too young. He matured and learned a lot every single year. That happens a lot. Based on Pete Carroll's first NFL stretch, would you have imagined that he'd be mentioned in the same sentence as Jimmy Johnson (college/NFL titles)? Belichick and Saban were on the same coaching staff in Cleveland 20 years ago and there was no indication that what was coming was coming.
