since 1999.

I realize since he was the 30th pick in the 2012 draft that he won't be up there with the notable draft busts, but man, his career resume really sucks.

As the title says, he is the only first round draft pick RB, WR, or TE since 2000 to not score a TD in his first 3 seasons.

The last player to do such a thing was Dolphins WR Yatil Green (15th overall in 1999) who tore his ACL on day 1 of training camp in year one. Then tore his ACL again in training camp his second season. He wound up having a whopping 10 knee surgeries in his 3 year career.

As for Jenkins woes:

In 2012, he was a healthy scratch in 13 games for the 49ers in 2012 despite their WR woes. He was only targeted by one pass his rookie season...which he dropped.

He was traded to the Chiefs in 2013, where he proceeded to play in all 16 games. But his first NFL catch didn't come until week 3 on a 6 yard screen pass. He finished the season with 8 receptions for 130 yards as well as 6 rushing yards on 2 carries.

In 2014, he appeared in 9 games for the WR starved chiefs and caught a career high 9 passes for 93 yards (and lost 2 yards on 2 runs and lost a fumble) before suffering a shoulder injury in week 10. But despite numerous opportunities, like all Chiefs WRs couldn't get past the white stripe.

And this gem last year

Going into his 4th NFL season, he is already suiting up for his 3rd team and will most likely not make the Cowboys 53 man roster as things currently stand.

Career stats:
28 games
17 receptions for 223 yards
4 rushes for 4 yards and 1 fumble lost
0 TDs
and he doesn't play special teams

I would say the 49'ers missed on that one. But then again so have a lot of teams missed on some picks.

Compared to the male population of the US? Sure. I don't see how he's a very good NFL WR unless every starting WR is.

He's a perfect slot reciever. I'm not saying he's one of the best in the league or anything but he's put up some decent numbers playing with really shitty QBs.

I don't know what they were thinking. General consensus among scouts was he was nowhere close to a 1st round prospect

Also, here is an expert Bleacher Report draft evaluation about how AJ Jenkins will improve the 49ers.

He might be the only first round WR pick by the 49ers that was more disappointing than Rashaun Woods.

Both were so bad.

You could hear the TV analysts shuffling their papers trying to find the info on him

To be fair, NFL analysts couldn't figure out if he was 6 months pregnant at the time or not

I think he has the perfect skill set to play slot WR. But I don't think he's one of the best overall WRs in the game.

So he went from 49ers to Chiefs??? This really exposes Alex Smith's shortcomings imo
