Beyond stupid IMO, Dak is the future of this team. Why bring back an aging brittle turnover machine for no good reason other than JJ emotional investment.

The guy has played 4 games in two years.

IF the cowboys were smart, they would find out what Romo is worth as trade bait. Should be doing that already. But keep him in Dallas as a backup. Then trade him after the season.

But Jones is not that smart.

Denver has a championship caliber team outside of qb. Would they give their first the next two years for romo?

Bring him back, fine, but if Dak is playing well, I would not start him in Dak's place.

Would be foolish to take on his salary with his age and injuries. He's almost untradeable.

He'll probably get hurt that first game anyway. Dak will get his spot right back

It would be a wonderful thing to see Dallas with Dak vs Denver with Romo in the super bowl.

BUT
no way I am giving up Romo if I am JJ.
I want a real backup. Dak takes big hits when he runs.

Comeback, as in watching from the sidelines?

that's sad to say, but I thought it too. I would make Romo backup and give him as much time to heal as possible

You guys are funny. Dak is the future, but if they want to win now Romo is the guy and there's no question about it.

They're good enough to win this year. And while Dak obviously has promise, Romo is the better QB on the field, so there's virtually zero reason to not put Romo back there.

1. You get a better QB

2. If Romo gets hurt, you know you have a very capable QB in Dak to sub in for him

If Romo is healthy, why in the world would you play the QB who, right now, is inferior? THAT is the smart play?

Most people would agree with that. The problem is he can't stay healthy anymore. If the Cowboys are 7-1 or 6-2, you're taking a huge risk by removing Dak.

Romo is not healthy, he is a walking MASH unit. But as long as Dak keeps this level of play or improves, then it is the smart play to let him keep his job.

Romo hasn't done jackshit in the playoffs, so there is no risk here by benching him.

I love Tony. His time is over. He needs to realize it.

Romo is the far superior quarterback but he needs to retire and think about his long-term health.

What risk?

If Romo is better, and like you said most will at least concede that, what's the risk? If he gets hurt, you bring Dak right back in.

I think Dak has proved as a rookie he can step right in and go, so I don't think there would be any issues if he took a few weeks off and jumped right back in, if needed.

Yep, if I were him I'd hang it up.
But if he wants and is ready to play, you play him. People are way too reactionary.

Because Dak has played and won.

He's basically a free quarterback and if you can find a way to unload Romo's salary and clear some cap space, you can build out the team in other areas.

I'm sure there's a big trade market for an aging QB, with back issues, and a sizable contract
