College national championship is still mythical

Big 12 teams have 2 byes as opposed to other power 5 teams having 1 bye. The college football committee will be comparing apples and oranges when ranking these teams.

The Big 12 got left out of the playoffs last year because of the reasons you stated. How does that make it mythical?

I would be ok with SEC adding one more conference game, skipping the championship game and getting two byes instead of one.

regular season is when the bye weeks must be equal because regular season bye weeks are not earned. playoff bye weeks have been earned

I understand what you are saying. Unlike the NFL that everyone, no matter what division or conference, plays under the same exact rules. Giving each conference, or school, the ability to set its own rules opens up possibilities of manipulation to ensure a conference almost guaranteed a spot in the playoffs

then every college championship in every sport is "mythical" by this standard since the teams do not play uniform schedules.

as long as their are conferences the sport will always be mythic

We really need to get the Power 5 (plus ND in a conference) to all play by the same rules. That includes conference title games.
