What do you think should be done, if anything about the typical timing between the last regular season game and the bowl match ups?

I believe most teams' last games are the weekend of November 28th. Some of the ~55 bowl teams will play 3 weeks after that, which isn't so bad. But what about the fairly standard routine of playing the last week of November, and then just practicing until January 1? I can't think of a similar comparison in other sports.

Olympic trials, then Olympics.

World Cup/Euro Cup/Gold Cup qualifying, then the actual cups.

The time is fine. It will keep the "our team was too beat up for the playoff game" people in check.

You know who you are.

That's true. Didn't Ohio State have 59 days in between its last game and the BCS once? It was before you had a conference championship.

Yeah both times. It's a lame excuse though.

STUDENT athlete!!! As much as it gets joked about, they are still student athletes and part of that gap is to compensate for the fact that finals is typically the first week of December. Then, the NCAA wants to spread the games out as much as possible to keep up with the traditions for some of the games and to keep from having all bowl games over 1-2 weekends.
