Practice that is! Whats the state gonna look like this year?
Well, from a small amount of research, SELU should be a contender again. They return almost the entire pitching staff including Southland Freshman of the year cutura. They lost an All-American closer, however there are plenty of upperclassmen to try out (Bernard, Manuel, Greenleaf). They lost 2 INF and 2OFF but gained more power behind the plate. This includes a High School All-American catcher who can play multiple spits. Also, a JUCO All-American who had 10 dingers last year. Overall, this will be an experienced club who win close ones with small ball, and veteran pitching. If some youth bats errupt, this team could put up alot of wins. Will be tested by 4 games with Tulane, LSU, Ole Miss, Alabama, South Alabama, and a Conference new comer Oral Roberts.

I know USL fans can't wait for their baseball Super Bowl on Feb 26.

I personally would love to see SLU in a regional, but they always seem to crumble at the end of the season. They always have a solid team, but never is enough to get into a regional.

Thankfully we have a lot of new projected starters from that abortion of a season.
Cody Boutte from LSUE is supposed to be a weekend starter
Dex Kjerstad is going to start somewhere in the outfield. Coach Deggs tried to get him to Texas A&M but he went to Texas for a year, then JUCO, then Deggs got him to commit.
Seth Harrison and Ryan Wilson are pitcher/outfielders who are supposed to play most outfield.
We had a lot of trouble with errors at SS last year so we may have a freshman start there -- Blake Trahan.
Another LSUE guy, Sam Carriere may start at 3b.
I'm mostly going off of what I've read from people close to the program. All I know is that we better have some good hitters after what we've been watching.

Interested to see Southern's pitching staff. Didn't they get a new pitching coach last year? I want to say I heard that.

good defensive ss though

Hit .370 at LSUE from the stats I found. It's a big jump though, I guess we'll see. If other people hit well, it wouldn't be a big deal to have a guy there strictly for defense. If it's like last year though, I'll murder a baby animal

You left out a Regional team from last year.

Hoping Tulane can finally make it back to the postseason this year. It'll probably come down to hitting, the pitching staff should be solid. Napoli and Reeves were good last year and they added a big righty Tony Rizzoti(TCU transfer) who throws in the 90's who will probably be a weekend starter.
Not sure if they improved enough offensively though.

I agree .. I do know that this should be the best pitching staff that Rick Jones has had at Tulane. We will see if they can hit .. I'm not getting my hopes up
ETA : and they have some talent coming in next year .. Two absolute studs that may get drafted too high to come to school. Will have to sweet that out

Watch out for my Kent State Golden Flashes again this year. They are going to be loaded again. Just saw head coach Scott Stricklin speak at a convention and all I can honestly say is this guy is a hell of a coach. His presentation was outstanding!

So can we win the tourney this year, cause I think that is what it is going to take.

Yes, I believe they are better than last year. Pitching staff has to stay healthy. There are more than 4 or 5 batters this year. And artigues puts them in place to win every game. LSU upset as well.

Southeastern should be good. If they can make a regional, sadly it will likely be at LSU.
And I'll be going to see that guy on the left throwing at Chase Field this season, too. Speaking of the Lions.

I heard Jones say that this team is better than the 2001 CWS team. He also said this is his best pitching staff that he has ever had in his coaching career.
His recruiting class next year is very good. 2 of the top 15 shortstops in the nation coming in. Alemais could have signed anywhere he wanted and he would start from day 1.
