Has anybody tried the Cobra F7 one-length irons (or any other one-length irons)?

This concept intrigues me. I generally overthink my set-up, swing, etc., which does not a good golfer make. These seem to take a lot of the set-up issue out of the equation. Although I may lose some distance, I'd sacrifice that for straighter shots.

TIA.

One of the better players I know who is constantly experimenting with clubs absolutely hated them.

That's all I got.

What did he hate about them (if you know)?

He said the lower irons being that long felt off, and he couldn't adjust. He was hitting the ball pretty bad with them.

He's leading the charge. But he's the only one as of right now.

He is the only I know of that uses them on tour as I think that he has always done that. They are 7 iron length because its his favorite club.

I believe he started doing that at SMU.

There are some reviews on youtube....Rick at EWatts said that you won't hit the 3 iron as far and the wedge will go about 20 yards farther....TIFWIW.

I'm not worried about distance loss on the top end. If I can swing 4-9 consistently, I can use the extra practice on the wedges, and maybe finally get my short game straight with my old Cleveland SW. That wedge and I have a love/hate relationship.

It's so bad some days that I putt well away from the far fringes/off the green.

I've watched some reviews on YouTube, people seem to like them but their yardage gaps are pretty tight. I read you shouldn't hit the short irons further, just higher and there's minimal distance loss in the long irons. Haven't hit them so I have no real experience, just what I read.

Cobra F7 One-Length

Cobra Forged One-Length

Basically, all clubs (4-SW) have a 7-iron length shaft. Other companies do it, as well (Edel and Wishon). I think Wishon uses an 8-iron length shaft. It's suppose to allow you to set up in the middle of your stance and swing cross one plane, thus simplifying your set-up and swing... so they say.

I called Dick's and they have a demo set. They won't let me check it out for a round, but I can try it in the store. I may run our there tonight and check them out. And bring my current set to compare.

Motor Learning principles would say this is a good idea if you hit the the one length irons the exact same way.

With different length irons, you basically have to have a different motor program for each iron, and each type of shot with that iron. It's what makes golf so difficult. It's a very random game in many aspects and the types of shots required is vast.

Just find you some old cobra s3's with e9 face technology and be done with it. Absolutely the best irons ever made

If the terrain allows it I put from 15-20 feet off the green right now. It's mental but I can't chip at all right now.
