Clemson fans. question on your offense

someone who has watched Clemson a little more over the years since that shitty game against LSU (I still feel like LSU got jobbed Hopkins and Boyd had great games though)
what is the difference between Morris and the New guy? of course they look the same to a casual viewer but after watching that bowl game again it looks like Morris used a lot more Pistol and Air Raid schemes
which offense do yall prefer to watch?
and BTW congrats on locking down Brent Venables. Dude does a tremendous job with that defense despite not having Elite Caliber talent year in and out.

Didn't Hopkins get hurt in the first quarter?
Wasn't Hopkins..but one of their elite players went down early

Morris would abandon the run. ScElliot (Scott and Elliot) do a great job with balanced play calling or at least adjusting to what the defense is giving them.
Not nearly as many trick plays now either, although obviously still several wrinkles, pre-snap movement and a few trick plays.
Most of us were relieved when Morris left due to the abandonment of the run thing, knowing that ScElliot had learned under him and would do well.
I'm sorry but this is an absurd statement. Their recruiting of the defense has been on par with top 3 in the SEC, FSU, tOSU, etc.

Watkins in the first play.

Yeah I can see that. Gallman probably wouldn't be having the years he did under Morris. talent at RBS for yall was never an issue.
there is a difference in the frequency of sets though right? despite both offenses looking similar, they seem fairly opposite.

I'm not sure I follow the line of thinking that their D doesn't have elite talent year in and year out. Their DLine is always stacked and it seems like they have a 1st round level CB almost yearly. Not to mention they had Stephone Anthony wrecking shite at LB too

Yeah was Watkins on a running play

well I think they develop talent as well as anybody for sure. they aren't having classes like LSU and Bama for example have been the past 4 years or so
which isn't a knock on them. what they do with what they get is nothing short of amazing.
Venables has lost his entire defense like 3 years in a row and still fields a salty arse unit year in and out.
if I'm not mistaken this will be their most experienced defense in a while headding into 17

not sure how much cfb you follow, but clemson brings in talent, oh, they might not get the 5 star kid, that some grown arse man has been creeping on for 2 years, but clemson gets talent.

woah I don't think they lack talent, I just said they don't bring in ELITE talent yearly like the more "prestigious programs"
I'd say Clemson is my favorite team to watch in the ACC since they beat LSU. watch them plenty over the years. that defense has a tenancy of getting lit up once or twice a year, but most games and in big games they play very very well

Clemson doesn't recruit that far off from LSU. LSU's recruiting classes are inflated by having 5-6 4*+ DBs and 2-3 4* RBs
In all actuality, they recruit LB and D-line better than LSU has lately and it's showing on the field.

I think the neworld culture change will help in recruiting
I'm 100 percent confident LSU is getting back to those nasty front 7s before Chavis destroyed and set back recruiting

Agree 100% we saw the young talent this year.
Godchaux was good. But if he stayed I think Lawrence and Alexander would have taken signifcant PT from him.
WE ARE LOADED. And Marvin Wilson may be about to join the bunch

off the top of my head
Gilmore
Christian
Herron
Valentine
Lawrence
Alexander
plus the freshmen
been a while since we had solid depth there

How did LSU get jobbed? LSU gave up 4th and forever. Clemson won that game more than LSU lost it.

A couple of differences, but they're tweaks more than anything. As they probably mentioned during the title game, we have 2 coordinators; one is on the field, Jeff Scott, and the other is upstairs, Tony Elliott. Scott is the son of former Clemson OC and South Carolina head coach Brad Scott, FYI, so you're probably familiar with his dad.
Chad was a tempo freak. When he was at Clemson, we had 2 speeds on offense. Wide open and stopped. On one hand, it's good. On the other, if we were getting beat up front, which happened against FSU, South Carolina, and a couple others during that span, our defense stayed on the field. The new guys have dialed it back a little, and Coach Caldwell has our offensive line pushing folks around for the first time in 20 years at Clemson. It took us a long time to shake the "finesse" stigma culturally.
Second, Chad loved exotic motions and sweeps. He almost always ran Sammy or Nuk on the sweep motion and faked it to them or the back, plus had a mobile QB. We ran a lot of pistol under him, almost exclusively.
And like another poster mentioned, he was quick to get away from the run if it wasn't working. He also likes to run his quarterback as much or more than his tailbacks. It's amazing Tajh wasn't hurt more frequently compared to how much Deshaun ran in his career.

Morris changed the program but he would sometimes get to cute on offense and had the tendency to abandon the run
Clemson D next year is going to be nasty
D line with Wilkins, Ferell and Lawrence with other guys too should be one of the best in the nation

lot of questionable calls that game
and yeah Chavis played soft that last drive. I lost faith in him that day I just told myself he'did be as good as 2011 until he left
