Holy shite. Seems like NBA took his comments as sexist when they really weren't. He was frustrated that his team got smashed on national tv.

NBA took Sterling's comments as racist....
I realize it's a one-time offense but that's unthinkable. If an owner said that they'd be fined 500K

He was criticizing a ref, not a woman. If that makes any sense
Clips whine a lot as a team.

I hate political correctness.

That's because Sterling literally said he doesn't want black people at his games.
With the Chris Paul situation, the NBA is basically saying "we can't prove that what was said was sexist, but we'll fine you some money so that we can say we did something about it and people will shut up about it".
It's just a big stupid game.

I think his conclusion that "maybe this isn't for her" is what got him in trouble.

It's ridiculous that this has been turned into what it has.

Have no problem with the fine unless y'all can show me comparable examples of Paul or even another player saying "this isn't for him" in that derogatory of a manner and not being fined.

What the frick are you talking about?
He said the call was ridiculous, and that refereeing might not be for her if she's making calls that bad. How is that sexiest?

You can't decimate an official.
They all know that.
They all know that.

It is a big deal in the media because she a woman. But the NBA is consistent in its policies with refs. You can't say what he said about a ref without a fine. 25K is not out of line of previous NBA fines, the Mavricks PA announcer was fined 25K for something he said about Joey Crawford back in April. Cuban has been hit with nearly $2 million in fines. Hibbard got hit with a 75K fine for saying 'no homo'

He was probably getting fined anyway for publicly critiquing a ref

Yes, but if a few pronouns in Paul's quotes are changed this gets no attention at all.

The standard fine for criticizing a ref is 25k, regardless of gender.
Posted on 2/7/15 at 10:46 am to VADawg
This is a fairly standard fine for criticizing the refs. The NBA doesn't give a shite that he said it about a female, they care that he criticized an official.

It may get no attention but he still gets fined.

They were not sexist but if you bash the officials when speaking to the media you get fined.
