So he can't connect to 99% of the players?

I think something is weird about Chip but I don't think he's racist. Its just sort of sad that the race card has to be played. It likely just a personality difference and it makes no sense when he his is bringing in other black players and letting go of white players.

I bet it has more to do with him being a "college" coach than anything. Players are entitled birches for the most part and many of these athletes feel Kelly is beneath them. Easiest excuse in the world is racism even if facts prove he cuts white players as well and signs African Americans to lucrative contracts.

Lets compare him to a coach like Tomlin, that players seem to love. I'm sure Tomlin isn't sporting a bottom grill and c-walking through the locker room, but he probably connect to them in a certain way. Is it because he is black? I doubt, I think its because of his geniune personality. Chip just seems like one of those guys that is very calculated and really doesn't have a life outside of football. Beautiful Mind type shite.

My guess is sour grapes on the ex-players' behalf. Probably not used to being treated as part of a system versus a star player, and not very happy over getting dealt to shitty teams

Agreed, but IMO, you cant discredit the african american experience or the experiences of those players. A team builder considers all of that when it comes to building a connection with his team.

I don't think he's a racist at all and that one or two guys idiotic comments have smeared his image while one or two others are just piggybacking onto that stupidity. But hey, just my opinion. If Chip was a racist how could he even stand to be a football coach? This topic needs to die soon.

I don't think he's a racist, but he definitely seems to be against a certain culture of player. You look at the two big guys he shipped off. Those were strong personalities that will say what's on their mind. Maybe he can't work with that kind of player.

My impression is that he wants guys that will toe the line who won't question his authority. To that I say, the best coaches in the league manage those types of players. They don't just ship them off rather than learn to deal with difficult personalities.

Players respect Belicheck, Harbaugh, Pagano, Arians, McCarthy, Carroll, etc. you name it. I would consider those guys "players coaches"

I think the view it as racism because they don't fit the mold Chip is looking for, but he did recruit D. Thomas and he was from Compton so...... It could be a thing in college where he was like, "Come to practice and workouts, go to class and don't get yourself in trouble" and let that be that.

That's idiotic, Belicheck does the same thing. He gets rid of players who don't fit his system. The difference is Billie heck has won and he has been in the NFL for awhile, while Kelly is still seen as a college coach with a gimmick offense. Players are afraid to speak out against Belicheck because of the culture he has established and his reach in the NFL community. Chip doesn't have that yet and may never have it. These are disgruntled players who really have no leg to stand on. Chip has cut white pkayers who were productive and signed black players to big conteacts.

I don't think he is against it. I think it is a thing where he wants them to conform to what he is looking for and they won't.

They are probably not trying to get guys to conform to anything either and I believe Chip is.

So untrue. He did recruit some guys from lower income households, but a good bit of his black athletes were middle class.

I think he has mild Asperger's. Chip has trouble relating to people in social situations and that can rub people the wrong way. When black football players see a white man who is visibly uncomfortable around them, it's easy to understand why they believe it's about race instead of something else.

Something is disconnected when it comes to Kelly and SOME of his former players.
He wants to pick and choose his players. The players that were let go or traded were inherited.

Kelly may have a different approach...one that he totally believes in. He may think that he can forgo a little bit of talent to get 53 players who all buy into the team concept. Sure, that's different than what we typically see, but I'm not ready to say that Kelly won't be successful.

I see it as kinda paternalistic, and especially considering the african american perspective and history, I see how they could see shades of race issues in this.

Grow up. Unless there is something I'm not aware of, this is a classic case of calling someone racist because they didn't meet the standard that Kellly set to be a part of the program.
