I hope Theo does the right thing and lets Jake walk at the end of the yr. No way you can justify giving him a huge contract

Yeah i dont think he will be with Chicago after this year

at the Nationals. Wouldn't Felipe Rivero look good in their bullpen?

I don't think re-signing Jake is even an option. His ERA since last June is right at 5, that tells me that is pretty much who he is now. I don't remember the last time he put up good outings back-to-back.
Dude has cost himself a lot of money.

Amazing how far Arrieta has fallen. He was untouchable a couple years ago!

Yep, most point to his velocity dropping, but it seems to me more a product of control. He'll show flashes of what he was in some starts but he almost always seems to have an inning where he just can't find the strike zone starts running up the pitch count and walking folks.
And when folks get on base against him the starts struggling, it snowballs. One big inning seems to bite him a lot these days.

Nationals going to grab Hand and Nescheck

Seems to me he has had trouble with two outs.

That would be beyond stupid for them to do this. They need the players they already have to get their heads out of their arse and start performing. Trading someone away is not going to magically make that happen.
