sent Schlitter down to Iowa.

I'm more happy about this than I am Lake coming up.

These kids are so much fun to watch. Fowler draws a 2 out walk, Soler executes a hit and run perfectly, Rizzo doubles Fowler home, Bryant singles home Soler and Rizzo.

Not surprising at all to see junior get called up.

I want to say the only reason Lake is getting called up is because Matt Szczur hasn't been in Iowa for the required 10 days yet. Brian Schlitter was so bad, the Cubs couldn't even wait for the roster move they wanted to replace him.

Very possibly with the Matt Szcuzur thought. I also think that Maddon wants to take a look at Lake. Lake had a very impressive spring and Maddon liked his play. He had a bunch of stolen bases this Spring and was much more patient than in the past. He was hitting .289 in AAA and had 8 RBIs. With the potential tools Lake brings to the table and his versatility, I think he fits into Maddon's type of player if he can be a little patient and not strike out as much as last year.

Didn't lake change his approach? Going from a guy who tried to corkscrew himself into the ground with every swing to more of a slap hitter?

Yep, I think he bunted a fair amount as well, which he did in the past. I think he is just more about trying to utilize his speed and get on base and cause major problems on the base paths. In the lineup the Cubs put out on a daily basis, they don't need much in the way of power from a guy like Junior Lake. With that speed, if he can get on base, he would be one hell of a plug in the 9 hole in front of Fowler, Soler, Rizzo and Bryant. IF, big if, he has become a more disciplined hitter and can get on base, he can play on this team. Maddon doesn't care about power. He likes speed and he likes to run the bases. Lake would be a nice fit.

He got knocked in the head by someone's backswing in the previous half inning, too. God, I love this farm system. Now that the big guns are almost all up, the farm system needs to be replenished.
