Schwarber out for this weekend. He's been diagnosed with a right rib cage strain. Their going to let it rest and re-evaluate in 3-5 days. Hopefully he's back for the start of the roadtrip.

7 up and 4 back.

Can we please stop acting like the sky is falling every time we lose a game?

Any word if goldschmit is going to take some time to spend with his newborn. Personally I think that for such a momentous occurrence in his life he should take all the time he needs. Come back fresh on Monday.

Also, really hope Godley doesn't try to stick it to his old team.

Is Addison Russell expected to move up in the order next season?

Obviously that's dependent on what moves if any are made in the offseason. But it's not like the 9 hole is the typical 9 hole negative thing. Maddon looks at it as a 2nd lead off spot and it gives russell protection in the order (with the 1-2-3 hitters coming next).

He is still so young so i could see him staying there next year.

He's not in the lineup today but he's supposed to be with the team this weekend.

For me, it's more of a concern about our starting pitching past Arrieta and Lester. That may not be an issue in a 5 game series, but it will be after that.

It's a concern in a 5 game series, especially because one of those two will be pitching the 1 game wild card playoff game.

Speaking of which, what is everyone's opinion of who should start that game against Pittsburgh? I was thinking Arrieta was a no-brainer decision, but it's hard to discount Lester's playoff experience. Maddon will be criticized if they lose either way, but what does everyone think?

Arrieta 100% should pitch the wild card game

Whoever pitches the wild card will get one start in the DS, whoever doesn't would start twice.

Eh by thinking that way you've already penciled the cubs in for the post season...which is the opposite of what i'm talking about. Everyone went pretty dumb during that reds series about being caught by the giants, couldn't catch the pirates etc etc. (here some, but mostly other cubs outlets).

I'd go with jake, but for that reason i'm not going to get my pitchfork out if maddon goes with lester. It's not like he can't be completely dominate too.

Momma always said Lester is like a box of chocolates...you never know what you're gonna get.

I think in a one game playoff with the season on the line, Arrieta is the only choice. Worry about the divisional series once you're there.

As i said, I'd take arrieta. and other than the miserable start against detroit, i don't share the 'don't know what you're going to get' sentiment.

But i also wouldn't spend too much time second guessing starting a guy with 12 post season starts and an era just over 2.50.

He's definitely been better for a while now (I was at that Detroit game, so perhaps it's colored my impression), I just don't believe that you can think ahead when it's a one game do or die situation. I'm obviously happy we've got both, and if Lester can get locked in, they'll be tough. It's after those two that I start to worry.
