I don't know how Charles Barkley really feels. However, I'd bet that the vast majority of these former pro athletes (and some current) don't believe the bullsh!t their spewing for one second. They realize that if the don't tow the party line, they'll be out of a job -- FOR GOOD.

The most courageous guy in all of this is Chris Broussard.

I mean, what he said is correct, would anyone really dispute that?

I'm assuming you're not counting Jason Collins in this one lol.

Charles Barkley has never censored himself before, I don't know why he'd start now.

Charles isn't one to BS people. It sounds completely authentic.

The only thing I came away with from the Broussard dialogue is that he is likely a hypocrite. There are so many "laws" in the bible that people in modern society would deem ridiculous that it would be practically impossible to live life by the bible.

I also find it funny that all of these people condemn homosexuality as a sin and being so terrible when it was never even mentioned by Jesus in the New Testament. If it was so important, you would think your messiah would have mentioned it.

John Amaechi, who is one of the better interviews you'll here on the subject, was just saying this on Lebatard's radio show a few days ago, with an unbelievably funny Sweet Tomatoes buffet reference lol.. I've also been saying this for a long time when the bible is brought up on these boards. If you're going to cite the bible as the reason against anything, you can't cherry pick, you have to believe everything in the bible or else it absolutely is hypocritical because you're not reading the book and making decisions on your beliefs based on the book. These people are deciding how they want to be first, THEN trying to justify it by citing the bible, and it doesnt' work that way.

Ameachi talked about it the fabric of your clothes doesn't completely match in what you're wearing, you're considered an abomination, and if your brother worked on the Sabbath, you are supposed to stone him to death, and others. If you live your life by the bible, live it by the bible

Is this true? Pretty heavy stuff, I definitely am not well versed on the bible, old or new.

I'll be completely honest that I haven't read the bible all the way through, but I've seen my comment mentioned in quite a few places, so I took it as true. If someone proves me wrong, I'll be the first admit I'm full of shite.

Barkley's survived this long on tv, whenever he's had enough he'll give his true opinion even if it costs him his job.

At some point he won't need the money anymore and will go off on some tangent that will probably get him fired. Meanwhile he'll laugh to the bank.

Obvious by the first part of your post...Looks like you're the one that cherry picked a couple of examples of old testament items and ran them out here without any other context.

I think maybe you don't understand the Bible, its purpose or its intended application.

The New Testament clearly identifies homosexuality as a sin. There are countless things that are sins that were never recorded as spoken words of Jesus.

This is an ignorant statement.

FWIW - I think homosexuals shouldn't be discriminated against and Jason Collins deserves support. I'm not a homophobe, against gay rights or anti gay in any way other than I acknowledge that it is a sin according to the Bible and orthodox Christianity.

Yeah since coming out isn't a big deal or something that people toil with for years, and many times never do for fear of persecution and misunderstanding.
