SportsNOLA article

an unfortunate end... the VooDoo could've been a somewhat interesting bridge between the end of the Pelicans season and the beginning of the Saints season

oh... and the Outlaws were supposed to be in the playoffs starting next weekend... they've been taken out and the Portland Thunder will take their place

Ha! The Outlaws were doomed from the start. They stayed with us before the season started during training camp and all the opposing teams stayed here also so I met a lot of the guys and saw how the team was put together. They had good players but zero management structure. It was all downhill after Vince sang the national anthem at the opener.

lo and behold look what's next weekend

now that i'm not 12, i can't get into the Zephyrs anymore...

they can start a team somewhere else and claim they're bringing the VooDoo back, but i'm not supporting it unless it's the AFL in the Smoothie King Center

ETA: and the Pelicans are doing well associating themselves w/ the Smoothie King Center

Poor marketing, poor attendance, and dismal performances on the field were the cause of the demise of this franchise. The new owners, since the team moved back a few years ago, could care less about what happened in all three of those categories. It was so bad that one game that I went to this year, they did not even have a digital announcement on the billboard outside the arena that they had a game that night against so and so.

When Benson owned the team it was polished and ran like an NFL franchise. During those first Voodoo years the games were an absolute blast and they had the highest attendance in the league.
