Oregon has some cache...Bama is way less popular outside of Alabama then I thought (almost no fanbase outside of their little state) Auburn has far more fans than Bama in state and out...and..Stanford surprises...USC is USC so doesn't surprise their national following.

Oregon's popularity really doesn't surprise me.

I am a little curious why Stanford has a solid block in S.Dakota

UH in Montgomery County outside Houston?

LSU and OU have more fans in Montgomery County not to mention the TX schools

This whole map is complete horseshite

It has plaquemines parish as Texas A&M fans, but I've lived here my entire life and have not seen one aggie fan around here... Not one

I've seen bama, MS state, auburn, etc, but not one A&M fan...

What a load of shite

Pockets of Tulane in New Mexico? Arkansas has a stronghold in southern Montana? LaTech in Wyoming? I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the methodology for extrapolating fandom in counties with no response is complete shite. There are over 3,000 counties (and equivalents) in the US. Using voluntary responses from less than 800.

I have lived in Idaho for the past 2 and a half years. The entire state is made up of Boise State fans and it's not even close.

I've seen much better maps. Reddit isn't exactly a great source for anything.

780 counties. So they asked an average of 4.5 people or so. In a good number, they probably only asked 1, so if 1 guy said 'oregon' in Massachusetts they went with it.
