Bears going to the Pit for what should be a great game. This is the stuff that used to pack Memorial Stadium every other year. Guice should be ready. Let's see what the Gators can bring.

One of the more underrated rivalries in Louisiana high school football, IMO.

It definitely cooled off a bit after they put them in separate districts, but in the late 90's early 00's, it was arguably just as big as St. Amant v. E.A. It will get back there eventually.

I will agree with this. At that time, it was always STA and Catholic as the top contenders in the district. They would have to bring in extra bleachers at The Pit. Plus it was the whole Public vs. Private thing.

Well St. Amant and Catholic were the best schools at the time, Dutchtown ruined that. From 1996-2001 it seemed winner of STA/Catholic would determine district champ.

The Catholic/St Amant rivalry reached its peak in this game.

When I saw Catholic play the last couple of years I was impressed with Khalil Thomas. I know everybody talked about Guice and he deserves it. Thomas wasn't very big but he played really hard and was a special high school player. He really complimented the Catholic High offense in his time there. They could use him now.

I remember these games. They were always high scoring. I was a sophomore when STA beat EA for the first time. Man great teams at STA back then. I remember always being in the play offs. Running into the Fuller brothers sent us home.

CHS has the injury bug bad this year. Missing eight starters last night. That said, St. Amant is clearly a very good team
