Whoa wait, what? Why?

Who's going to do backflips after wins now?

This is weird.

Always enjoyed him in the 99 car. One of the most popular guys on and off the track.

He will be missed.

Totally unexpected. Wonder if it is a health issue or something else? He is notoriously a very private person, so there could have been something going on that wasn't public knowledge.

I was at Atlanta to see him get his first Cup win (and there to see him flip Kes as payback for Talladega). I always thought he was one of the nicer guys in the garage, and one of the most respectful - he made it a point to always take his sunglasses off or flip up his visor when he was being interviewed.

Final 4. He was leading with 10 laps remaining, but wrecked.

This is weird. Wonder if it had to do with that wreck.

Apparently Saurez is going to move into the #19 now.

Seems like the natural progression, both drive for JGR, same sponsors, and Suarez won the championship.

Off topic somewhat, does Earnhardt retire if another concussion/wreck now?

Apparently the precautions and steps he took alleviated the symptoms that could lead to CTE or possible flags if another one were to occur per his and Hendricks release a month or so back.

That being said, he has had two major concussions in the past few seasons. When dealing with the brain and quality of life I could see it ending his career if he has another one on the level of the past two. Guy has too much money, and too much going on outside of the cockpit to have his quality of life be derailed by multiple other concussions.

I think so. He just got married on 12/31. I would not be surprised to see him step away after 2017 or 2018 anyway, but another bad wreck or concussion may see him do it immediately.

I was wondering what was gonna happen with the logjam JGR had for drivers. So many young and talented drivers in the younger series who are moving up quickly and not enough rides.

Phew...

I'm sure the other Carl Edwards' sponsors will find someone else capable of stepping on a gas peddle and making a bunch of left turns for 2 hours.

Very strange

Hope it isn't a health issue as he seems like a legit nice guy
