Tonight on Showtime. The top 2 middleweights in the world, both undefeated champions, fight in a title unification bout.

Edit: Also live fights this afternoon on NBC. Heavyweights Tyson Fury (great name for a fighter) vs Steve Cunningham.

Edit 2: afternoon boxing on NBC, UFC on fox from 7-9pm, Alvarez vs Trout on Showtime from 9pm-11pm equals a great day for fights fans!

Agreed. If trout stands in front Canelo, he loses easily. He has to move & pick his oppurtunities of when to engage. But Trout fought a great fight last time out when he defeated Miguel Cotto, so I expect him to be smart about it. I still expect Canelo to win, though.

Can't wait! I've been pumped for this fight since it was scheduled. Somebody's O has got to go!

My prediction: Canelo by 10th round KO. Nobody can withstand his left hooks to the body.

Ca-nel-o! Ca-nel-o! Ca-nel-o!

ETA: Also, I want someone to shut-up Trout's loud mouth girlfriend.

Fighting at 154 not 160. Been following Canelo since 2009, big big fan.

Correct, Jr Middleweight. Actually I think the division is called Super Welterweight now. I typed the wrong division in the original post, thanks for the call out.

I'll be at the fight, sitting about 20 rows from ringside. If my phone hasn't died by then, I'll try to post some pics for everyone.

Rankings-wise they are the top two in the division. No one in this thread said "best."

Edit: it's hard to call a guy who fights part time in a division the best of that particular division. Especially when he hasn't fought a person worth a damn in the division other than Cotto, the guy he dodged 5 years ago when the fight should have been made. But I'll concede you Mayweather since that's who you're hinting at.

Who's better?. . . Unless you call Mayweather a 154-pounder, there's no one better than these two.

FACT.

I'm going in the minority here. I think Trout fights another smart fight and wins a close decision. I'm looking forward to this one.

Look up Carlos Molina he's the best light middle. There are other guys better than Trout(one significant fight in his career) as well.

Trout is a very smart fighter. So its not crazy that he pulls this out by fighting smart. This is by no way a bum that Canelo is fighting. IMO, Canelo out works him. I can see a late stoppage, but I'll call a UD.

The crowd is 75/25 for Canelo so far.

I've only watched one of his fights. His 21-5-2 record (with only 6 KOs) suggests that he's not the best in the division.

Why do they start this shite so late at night? The undercard starts at 10:20? What the hell?

I mean, geez, if you start the main event at 9:00 Central, that's 10:00 EST and 7:00 Pacific. Everybody's happy. Instead, the main event probably won't start until 11:00 EST. Some people have to work!
