Can someone explain to me why Oregon is playing for the PAC12 over Stanford?

Am I missing something here?

Stanford is 11-1.
Oregon is 10-2.
What's the deal?

Oregon beat Stanford but Stanford has the better record.

Conference records are the same. And Oregon holds the first tie braker.

Oregon's other loss is to LSU. Both have one loss in the PAC12.

They have the same conference record, and Oregon won the H2H matchup.

Wait, so you're telling that Oregon could be 8-4 only losing their out of conference games and still be playing for the title?

Conference record is more important than overall W-L?

Well shite, I didn't even know that. Guess its just one of those rules you never know about until you need to.

How do you justify that though? Doesn't make sense.

That isn't the case in the SEC is it?
