Unless they believe one of the QBs can be a franchise player, they'd be idiots to take someone other than Garrett.

Yeah I agree, his whopping 12 sacks against SEC opponents in three years speak for themselves.

ETA: For comparison, I believe Arden Key has 12 career sacks against SEC opposition in his career.

Maybe it was just the product of playing on such a shitty defense, but he never showed out in big games. He did have to play for Chavis for 2 seasons though so it's something to keep in mind. (See Danielle Hunter)

They need to keep loading up on other players and keep tanking to be able to pick Darnold in a couple of years.

Buga being the #1 pick would cause a melt?

I'd assume it may amongst A&M fans since they can't top LSU in remotely anything football related.

It's Garrett for sure. I'm more interested to see what they do with their other 1st rounder.

This is very true. Chavis has no clue how to use a pass rushing DE. The successful ones at LSU were surrounded by absurd talent advantages and still didn't have gaudy numbers.

That contain scheme can be very effective with a great defensive backfield in college, but it is not built to showcase pass rushing DEs.

I don't think Garrett will be a bust. But I don't think he's a franchise changing player (With that being said, I can't think of another prospect to put ahead of him at #1). That's why I would trade out of the number 1 spot and try to get as many picks as I could. The Browns have a number of holes on that team.

This is about how I feel. I certainly don't think Garrett is a bad player by any means. I think he has the gifts physically as well to succeed in the NFL and be effective, I just don't think he'll be the next coming of JJ Watt and that's the tag he'll likely receive should he go No. 1.

I don't know if he has the fire to be on the level of someone like Von. This draft is pretty weak.

That said taking Trubisky 1 would be pretty dumb IMO. Trading back later in the top ten if you can find someone to deal with might be best and you can still get Trubisky and whoever you want at 12
