Browns considering cutting Caleb Brantley (who they just drafted) :-D

The Cleveland Browns selected former Florida defensive tackle Caleb Brantley in the sixth round Saturday, but the organization still has questions stemming from an incident in which Brantley is accused of hitting a woman. The Browns head of football operations Sashi Brown said the team might cut Brantley as the team continues to investigate. “This is something that he can’t repeat as he moves forward,” Brown said, via ESPN. “And more important than that, we communicated to Caleb that this is something that we’re still investigating and looking into, and facts may turn up that prevent us from being able to keep him on our roster.

“We will continue to investigate on our end and, provided that we can get comfortable, keep him on the roster. If we can’t, we’ll move on.” According to court records obtained by the Tampa Bay Times earlier this month, Brantley was charged with misdemeanor battery after allegedly punching a woman and knocking her unconscious during an early-morning incident on April 13. Brantley entered a not-guilty plea to the battery charge Monday, according to Alachua County Court records. The 6-2, 307-pound defensive tackle was a second-team All-SEC selection in 2016, finishing with 31 tackles for loss and 2½ sacks.
This organization is run by retards. Don't draft him if you were worried about character concerns that were already known
Browns are a mess

lol they aren't going to cut him. This is just PR

That means if he gets any serious jailtime, which he won't.

meh
6th round you take a chance on a talent with potential issues
if you find out its more than potential you cut him
its just a 6th round pick

I mean no other 6th round pick is saving the browns' future, why not take a flyer on talent even if you may be forced to cut. He wasn't choosing browns as an udfa

Depends on charges... I don't see a problem considering the pick. Not like they wasted a first round pick on a guy who may go to jail

What a clown organization. From top to bottom. Just the worst

Meh he is a 6th round pick... If the charges fall then he could be great, if not then no loss

Bengals will trade a 2nd round pick for him

I mean the Saints did basically the same thing with their 6th Rd pick. Definitely worth the risk when 6th Rd picks are hit and miss to make the roster any way.

It's definitely PR and trying to light a fire under his arse, but they are the Browns so I hope they understand the ridicule that will come their way.

Exactly, the 6th and 7th rounds are throw stuff at the wall and be happy when something sticks. UFA is where you can do some research and bid it out.

Even if they do, so? By drafting him in the sixth round, they have a reason to investigate him thoroughly. As many have stated already, there's zero chance he was picking the Browns anyways. The Browns have a boatload of picks, so they could chance it.

Tom Brady was taken in the 6th round. 199 overall.

Do you think that was a good counter to what he said?
Posted on 4/30/17 at 5:07 pm to AjaxFury
They drafted 5 1st round talents. Had a great draft.

Can we list all of the 6th and 7th round picks that didn't make it as an point against you?
Posted on 4/30/17 at 5:12 pm to AjaxFury
The Browns make a lot of bad decisions. Drafting a guy that some had rated as a 2nd rounder in the 6th round where there is nothing but upside is not one of them.
