I think what SFP is eluding to is the fact that the foundation, when set up, and money was invested for this purpose did not originally cost $750,000
but the making $1 bil tonight analogy was dumb

This sounds like Michael Scott's promise.

As a Cleveland Browns rookie in 2005, Edwards announced he'd give $10,000 in scholarships to 100 area eighth-graders if they could graduate high school with over a 2.5 GPA and 15 hours community service. Of the 100 who were afforded the opportunity, 79 met the criteria and have begun their first year of college.
Amazing that over 20% couldn't meet this abysmally low requirement.

That's not bad considering a lot of those kids probably don't give a crap about high school or college. That's probably why Braylon did what he did.

just think if every NFL, NBA and MLB player did this. I believe it would make a real change in this country.

Probably wouldnt make much of a difference if it came from pro athletes that could afford it.
Posted on 12/25/11 at 6:56 pm to Jones
How can they not afford it???? Yes, maybe if they didn't have 19 cars and 10 million dollar mansions they couldn't afford it. These fricking athletes make waaaaaaay too much money as it is, when the only thing they provide for our society is temporary entertainment and nothing, and I mean nothing, thats lasting.

Just don't toss him anything important.
Posted on 12/25/11 at 6:59 pm to RighteousTiger
Because most pros are not making all that much money to just give a million away.

Oh somebody is pretty mad up in here.
Have you seen the tax rates for someone over 350k? They are fricking insane, they are already contributing more to society than you are, even if it involves dancing in endzones and suffering more concussions than anybody else in the world. Take your frustrations about being a cubicle jockey somewhere else, because nobody on this board gives a shite

How the frick do you know this dumbass. You dont even know what I do for a living. Lets just say I enlisted in the Army when I was 17 and was sent to Desert Storm with the 82nd div. After that I went to college and earned my degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in structures. After graduating I decided that I wanted to "contribute" to society a tad bit more than most professional athletes so I joined the Marines. There I earned my wings and flew attack helicopters for 12 years. Over that period of time I can count at least 10 people over the last 6 years that gave their lives in defense of our Nation. The Nation you live in. Don't forget Pat Tillman. That is how I chose to contribute to our society just as tens of thousands of others do every day. Now I do work in a cubicle from time to time and I still am in the Marines as a reserve pilot. Now lets readdress your point again. How does a pro athlete contribute more to a society than I do? I think I covered that topic now lets address the taxes. Taxes on 350,000...who cares. Taxes on 18,000,000 a year...who cares at all. Try taxes on 38,000 a year. Now that sucks. Have a great day PAL. What does "oh somebody is pretty mad up in here" mean? Hasta.

Damn you angry
You serious?
Not too many athletes are making 10+ mil per year.
Fwiw there are about 40,000 Americans that are worth 30+ million. Go bitch about them not putting public school kids through college
