Huge congrats to my HS friend Derek Sanders who's been on the bag for Sauers for a couple of years now. Sauers won the Senior U.S. Open today and picked up a huge payday...the guy battled through a severe health scare that kept him out of golf for over 7 years.

Very happy for my friend who turned 48 today...pretty cool deal.

Sauers is a real good guy. Could have won the Senior U.S. Open a couple of years back and also a PGA at Bellerive way back in the '90s. He has battled life threatening injuries.

Congratulations to him and his caddie.

What ever happened to his brother Jay? Haven't heard from or seen him since his Shreveport days.

Not sure what Jay is doing these days as far as work...think he's out of the golf business and living in BR. Derek was at Southern Trace when I moved here around '97 and think Jay was at East Ridge.

Derek was at a course in the New Orleans area when he left here and then got started caddieing(sp?) for Faxon a few years ago and then hooked up with Sauers a couple years ago. He also caddied for Toms a few times when DT switched from his longtime caddie for a stint.

Thanks for the info. Jay and I were (are) friends. Just lost touch the past few years. If you hear of anything about him, please update the thread. Thanks
