Where can you go to watch a Boxing match in the New Orleans area? Back in the day, I went to a boxing match in Mobile. I have to say it was one of the most exciting sporting events I've ever witnessed. In some way, seeing 2 men willingly going at each other - mano a mano - appeals to the reptilian brain in all of us. I know boxing used to be a big deal in New Orleans - maybe around 1930- 1970 (??) - but haven' seen it promoted at all lately. Where can you go to take in a good boxing match? Do the Gulf Coast casinos sponsor these?

Les Bonano still promotes fights. I think they are usually in Gretna.

John L Sullivan vs Gentleman Jim Corbett in 1892. The first time the gloved championship changed hands as the bareknuckle legend got KOed by the father of modern boxing.

They have fights at the St. Bernard Civic Center every so often, and there's a gym in Arabi with a kids program
