You laugh at canelo but weren't you shitting on ggg for the same reason?

Is this the new fad in boxing, just these boxers doing what they want without giving a crap about regulations?

Still think this fight happens, especially if the money is right.

Canelo scared of GGG.

And he should be.

Sort of. There are similarities and differences between the two. Main difference here is Canelo told GGG's team to feel his nuts, said he wasn't scared of GGG and he would fight him, and then turns around and drops the belt so he doesn't have to fight him. Really?

With Golovkin, he said he wanted the 168 fighters and went after Chavez Jr and Froch hard but then Ward stepped up and said let's do it then GGG changed his mind instantly. A lot of GGG nuthuggers throw around the "avoided" card to defend him but GGG himself ran away from a fight with Ward. That's my whole problem with him. Don't use being "avoided" as an excuse when you turned down the chance to fight a top 3 talent in the sport.

But in this case, one guy is the best 160 in the world (GGG) and the other guy (Canelo) holds the lineal title but never wants to fight at anything above 155. Canelo would've held that belt hostage for a decade if he could but when the WBC put their foot down and made them negotiate, Canelo dropped the belt and went hide behind Oscar.

Pretty much, especially with the elite fighters. That's why I love Segey Kovalev...he's a throwback fighter. Even if he's the better fighter, he'll take less money, go to his opponents home town and gladly knock them the f*ck out.

I believe when he fights Ward in the fall, he's gonna travel to Ward's home in Oakland. Kovalev could've easily demanded the fight be in Vegas, Atlantic City, New York, etc. but he likes destroying people in front of their fans.

Man that's going to be an intense chess match. Kovalev will try to be the bully who gets the KO and Ward will try to use dirty tricks and skill to frustrate and outclass him.

I know one thing though, if Ward shows up like he did against Barrera, he's in for a long night. He got hit a lot.

Kovalev's next fight is against Isaac Chilemba. Decent warm up fight.

Yeah man, Ward looked rusty as hell. Kovalev will leave some marks if he gets to touch him like that.

Marciano and I don't agree on many things but he's money on this one. Canelo is being a pussy with this catchweight bullshite and then the WBC enforced the mandated limit, he took his toys and went home.

This is bad for boxing and especially bad for Canelo that was actually starting to become an international star and not just a mexican one.

shite like this is why the MMA guys laugh at us. The best should fight the best, end of story.

As for Ward/GGG, I have a sneaky feeling that should Ward make through the Kovalev fight without getting killed that it'll be made, albeit probably at a damn catchweight.

Those things are what has really killed boxing. Too many people ducking fights and BS. Boxing needs one organization running things like UFC does in MMA.

UFC

Is that the organization where a ton of the good fights get scrapped because someone gets injured? And I remember when UFC fighters refused to fight one another because they were apart of the same gym. UFC has its issues as well.

UFC was way better in the mid-late 2000s when they had one event per month on PPV and a free card on Spike every 2-3 months. It's beyond watered down at this point and it's been that way for years.

I'm not trying to say boxing is in good condition...just pointing out that UFC is not perfect either.

Wtf you get outta that article besides him clearly admitting he wants the fight. He dropped the title so his balls and prep won't be in a vise. Am I missing something.

Disclaimer. I watch little boxing.

Yeah I agree with this. He doesn't appear to be dodging the fight, just that he want's it to happen organically instead of a bunch of suits dictating to him and GGG when the fight has to happen by.

Canelo was holding THE middleweight championship of the world yet refused to fight at the actual limit of 160. Golovkin was his MANDATORY in the WBC, the sanctioning body which Canelo holds the belt for. The WBC allowed Canelo to by-pass the fight this spring/summer but made it mandatory for him to fight his #1 challenger in the late summer or fall. The fact that Canelo dropped the belt ASAP tells fans all they need to know. Canelo was the A-side and could have probably gotten everything he wanted in negotiations except the 155 weight limit.

Canelo is a giant PUSS and it was proven yesterday. He actually called GGG's people in the ring after the Khan fight, told them to feel his nuts, went on and on about how he was ready for the fight.....then he said no thanks, dropped the belt and went hide in the closet under all of De La Hoya's fishnet stockings.

Well, I'm still willing to hold out hope that what you say is not the case.

When you think about it, really what benefit was there to hold on to the belt from Canelo's vantage point? Does Canelo really have any bargaining power if he's still the champ and there's a mandatory opponent for him?

I think Canelo stills want the fight, he's just going to try to negotiate every factor in his favor that he possibly can, which is what he should be doing when he's getting into the ring with someone like GGG. The only way for him to get every advantage that he can is to at least create the illusion that the fight won't happen. He's the money guy with the power, it's his right to do that.
