He isn't soft. He just doesn't have enough talent to warrant being a top 3 selection in this year's draft.

He isn't an explosive player. He is a very good rebounder and has some nice post-up moves, but he is a dismal foul shooter and has very mediocre range. He doesn't have elite defensive skills and he doesn't block enough shots. He is a better version of Shelden Williams, but nothing more.
He will go in the top 5 in this draft, but that is because this will be the weakest draft in the past several years. Marcus Fizer was also once a top 5 pick (although I think Blake will certainly be a better pro).
I don't see him being anything more than a 13/8 guy in the NBA.

If you like watching college basketball highlights, watch what Drew Gooden did in college. He is probably more athletic than Griffin and just as highly regarded. I'm not saying that Griffin is going to be some huge bust at the next level, but he will probably follow a similar career trajectory.

He is probably the most explosive big to come out of the draft in the last 3-4 years. Do you even watch college basketball? He is Carlos Boozer with explosion. He is going to be a 20 & 10 player by his 3rd season.
