NOLA isn't and will never be a stronghold for LSU. I saw this clearly on 1-9-12 when I foolishly thought the city would be purple and gold, instead it was majority crimson. Not to mention, the city has a Bama bar "rusty nail" and several people uptown have been sending kids to Alabama and Ole Miss for generations now.

Oh my god get the frick over it. Should the city of New Orleans not have allowed Alabama fans into town for the national championship? Is that what you're recommending? The vast majority of those fans came from out of state to support their team. It's on LSU's fan base that they didn't have a better showing that night.

I was surprised how many Alabama fans were in the city. It definitely looked 50/50.

Well this doesn't mean anything. Major universities like LSU and Alabama have bars in major metro areas all over the country thanks to alumni and alumni chapters.

Not that this was the point of your post, but it's false.

Once Saban is gone I can easily see the decline of the LSU/Bama "rivalry".

I'm not so sure about that. They were always the enemy.

LSU fans hate $aban for going to al-Abama, not al-Abama because the traitor coaches there. If $aban had come back to the SEC as the coach of USC or State or Tennessee, LSU fans wouldn't care.

Also NOLA and Birmingham aren't really comparable. One is a top tourist destination the other is in Alabama.

Calling BS on this too. So you post some BS about OM being some senior heavy team and LSU starting 14 freshman? GTFO

No, it's just appalling that a city 70 miles from Baton Rouge didn't have more purple and gold than Crimson. I clearly recall walking around Nola on 1/9/12 and distinctly remember more Bama fans than LSU. You don't see that in Georgia. I recall watching LSU play Georgia in sec championship game and seeing way more UGA fans due to its proximity to Athens.

I don't get what's funny about that. I've never heard of anyone planning a vacation to Birmingham.

Did you watch the game? Call it what you want, I was quoting what Gary Danielson said...

This was just the offensive line...
LINK

quote:

Weathersby's presence gives LSU three freshmen starters on the offensive line. Weathersby, making his first career start, and left guard Maea Teuhema are true freshmen and right guard Will Clapp is a redshirt freshman. Teuhema has started eight games and Clapp nine this season.

There was nothing stopping more LSU fans from Baton Rouge or around the state for that matter for coming in town to support their team. Instead, they took the game for granted and let Bama scoop up a majority of the tickets and make it feel like a home game. It was a poor showing on the LSU fanbase's part relative to Bama's, whether those fans come from NO, BR, or Bunkie.

But you're right, it's a conspiracy and everyone in New Orleans hates LSU.

I did watch the game. You said 14 freshman and you just named three on the offensive line. So where are the other 11 freshman that started? I don't even think OM has 20 seniors that play meaningful snaps on offense or defense much less 20 that start.

Box score with list of starters for both teams.

Kinda the same way LSU owns ULL? But their fan base thinks it's a rivalry.

The billboard is a waste of money but still hilarious. NOLA, like any big city, has a mix of fans. LSU may own Jefferson Parish but Orleans is LSU, Ole Miss, Bama, Texas, Tulane, ND...
