Has there been a bigger fall from greatness than Tiger Woods or anybody else that even comes close? Tiger is flat out embarrassing himself. He's no doubt one of the all time greats but these last few years have been brutal and you have to wonder how much will it tarnish his legacy. His play doesn't seem to be turning around any time soon and tough to imagine it ever will. He just doesn't have it between the ears right now.

Only person I can think of that was once on top of the world like Tiger and came crashing down and was a shell of their former selves would be Mike Tyson.

PS I'm a Tiger fan not trying to flame or troll

It's really been just the last year and a half. In 2013 he was still the player of the year and the #1 ranked player in the world.

But golf is a sport probably more so than any other where one thing being off can completely kill your game. I'm not sure there is another sport like it.

Tiger is measured on majors right now and it's been 7 years since he's won one. But yes you are correct.

I'm talking about performance in their respective sport. Lance and OJ both had issues outside of their sports. Same deal with Pete Rose before anybody says that.

Assuming you mean in field play:

I mean no disrespect at all, but Lou Gehrig. ALS is a horrible disease i hope (and from what i hear) will have a cure. The molecular genetics they are doing is astounding

I would almost bet he would have played another 2130 games had he not had this misfortune

That wouldn't have happened but I get your point. There was a really sad anecdote about him in Bill James Historical Baseball Abstract. During his last year, Gehrig fielded a ball cleanly for the last out of the inning. When he got back to the dugout, all of his teammates were giving him handshakes, patting him on the back and giving him compliments for the play he had just made. Gehrig was absolutely devastated. He had only made a routine play.

I think it's made more "shocking" considering how it was a given that he would beat Jack's majors record. Now it doesn't look like he'll win ANY tournament again.

He might be the worst player on the Tour right now. It's really sad to watch, I grew up watching him and now he can't even make the most routine shots.

It's like watching Space Jam in real time.

I think there needs to be some sustained suckage before I can call it the biggest fall from grace. He had a similar fall from grace after getting clubbed in the head with a 9 iron but then returned to his #1 ranking and player of the year in 2013.

18 months of shite golf isn't enough. Give me 4-5 years of this and I'll be convinced he won't be back.

When Tiger 1st started it was mentioned by a few people about how violent his golf swim was (unlike a guy like Tom Watson/DLIII WHO's swings just seemed effortless).

I think now that his body is getting older, his body just can't handle the stresses from his swing style which results in his severely erratic game from tee to green. Tiger's short game is still fantastic
