Big12 question

Does anyone else think the big12 should expand and what teams should they add?? I think Houston and BYU would be very good additions. this isn't sec or LSU but it's very relevant to college football

I think central Florida would be a good add for them.

Yes or possibly somebody up in the West Virginia area. Cincy could add a rivalry. Memphis could compete.

Why? How would adding two crappy to mediocre programs help them?
It's not going to hurt OU this year.

No. No schools out there that would bring in enough money to make splitting the pot 12 ways instead of 10 ways worth it.
eta - Should have added Louisville before Louisville went to the ACC. But now, there aren't two teams out there that are worth adding

They should just pull the plug now before it becomes the Big East and all find new homes.

I'm not for expansion but I do think BYU would bring in enough money to make it worth splitting. Not sure on a 12th team though.

This
BYU and Houston are the best candidates for the Big 12 and neither are anywhere close to home-run additions. They do nothing more than fill 2 spots, take money, and add little back to the Big 12.

Mizzou should be kicked out of the SEC and go to the B12.
ATM should do the same. That way UT and ATM would re-new their rivaly

i don't know, it didn't seem to hurt the SEC when they added a&m.

BYU won't work because of the no playing on Sunday's issue since many of the sports play on Sunday. They won't look to add Houston most likely, they don't want to add another Texas team.
They don't need to expand since they will be able to play a Championship game next year since the stupid committee says you need to have one.(which is stupid since everyone plays everyone during the season so you actually determine the best team during the season; as long as the tie break rules are in place like this season)

upvote for posting this on the right board.

What exactly do you think Houston would add to the conference?
Posted on 12/4/15 at 8:32 am to OKIETigerT
Cincy and either 1. Memphis 2. BYU 3. Colorado St. 4. Houston, 5. UCF/USF

They might as well revert back to the old Southwest Conference if they add another Texas school. They should look to add Louisville or Cincinnati.

The BigXII should have expanded when Colorado and Nebraska left, but Texas was coming off a season when they had to have the refs "review" a play and put time back on the clock for them to make the national championship game, and they thought not having a championship game would make that easier. So they didn't. They should have added New Mexico and CSU in 2010.
The BigXII should have grabbed Louisville and ND or Cincy in addition to TCU and WVU in 2011.
Now they need to go east and forget BYU. The BigXII needs to go to 14 (they already own the trademark for the the big14 conference so name is no big deal). The Big12 currently has the smallest population foot print of the P5 conferences so adding a team in a state that you already have a team in is a no-no. I think they should add:
1. Memphis
2. Cincy
3. NIU
4. Temple
That would increase the BigXIV (new name for big12) an expanded footprint and would connect WVU to the rest of the conference. They could also stick with the old north-south division alignment:
BigXIV North:
Temple
WVU
Cincy
NIU
ISU
KSU
Kansas
BigXIV South:
OSU
OU
TCU
TTU
Baylor
UT
Memphis

Damn, North would be filled with cupcakes. Very unbalanced.....kind of like the Big 10 West and SEC East.

what would be the point of this? all it would do is waterdown the conference athletically and academically. i would hate to play any of memphis/cincy/niu/temple, unless it was a non-con filler game to open the season.

I prefer geographically based regions, but the BigXIV could also do like the ACC or the BIG originally did and split the teams up randomly.
DivisionA:
Temple
Cincy
KSU
OSU
Texas
TCU
Memphis
DivisionB:
WVU
NIU
ISU
Kansas
OU
Bayor
TTU
Or my personal favorite is to deregulate the conference championship games (supposed to be discussed and voted on this january) so that conferences don't need divisions and the 2 teams with the best conference records play in the CCG.
