but you take a Wake Forest? A small private school with a small fan base?

This is not about your person snobbery, it is about expanding the footprint of the brands. Agree or disagree, fine, but they are not adding teams in existing markets, that defeats the purpose and they are not adding small private schools over large state schools.

Tell me, what does North Carolina State add? They are perennially a 6 or 7 win team over time at best.

NC State:
All-time record: 560-542-55 (.508)
Bowl record: 14-12-1
National titles: 0
Conference titles: 7 ACC

Their best final ranking ever was #9 (1974).

Their baseball and basketball have a little more to offer, but I still wouldn't be jumping for joy over them.

They already have UMD and Rutgers joining. So these three would put them at 17. Something's gotta give.

Doh, that;s right. Wow, would they really go after all 3 or just the first 2 to say yes?

You need to stop looking at this from a football fan perspective. It is about TV sets and revenue.

People that bring up football records are failing to see the big picture in conference expansion.

In my order of preference: Use this as leverage to have Notre Dame join as a full-time member (basically, if they don't join to solidify the ACC, then this is the only choice...bringing in Notre Dame swings the tables big time and should please FSU/Clemson).
- Get picked up by the SEC

Is there a real chance of Virginia joining the SEC? It has seemed to me the administration and alumni are rather against that idea

A lot of this isn't new in any way. A couple of websites, mostly from fan sites of West Virginia and Maryland, have had really convoluted scenarios that get posted on the MSB every few months.

Until the exit fee issue is resolved, nothing is going to happen.

Either first two to say yes OR Penn St is starting to feel nervous.

No. UVA covets being in the CIC much more than they covet being in the SEC. Same with UNC, Georgia Tech and Duke (if they're invited which I think is a strong possibility).

If enough of them leave the exit fee issue simply goes away.

a large growing state and a much larger following. Again it is NOT about adding an elite FB team, it is about expanding into new markets. A state school with 35,000 students > than a private one with < 10,000. NC States all time FB accomplishments or lack there of is completely irrelevant.

If we are to believe the rumors from some of the fan sites, Slive's top choice is Duke and UNC.

Fwiw, I think every single one of these posts is bullshite, with the writer just making intelligent guesses and hoping something sticks.

I hear it is going to 20 teams and they will be the first of 4 Mega-Conferences.

And honestly, the SEC needs to add some minnows. Not completely awful programs, but it has more than its share of football powers. It needs to add its middle class.

ND was always my #1 on joining the B1G since before all of this started, but I can honestly say I really don't want them anymore.

I don't think there was anyway they would join the CIC. Wonder if the Big12 goes after them?

Adding FSU, Clemson, say L'Ville and ND would be great gets for them

Give it a rest with the markets. You can pretty much see any game you want now due to the growing demand of college sports. Do you really believe fans in North Carolina, Texas, Michigan, Oregon, etc are not actively paying attention and watching SEC sports? Same can be said in SEC country.

The ACC is nowhere near the shambles of the Big East four months ago.
