As a big college hoops, I've been very impressed with how stout the league has been in recent years. It is easily the toughest and deepest league in basketball and is on its way to ruling basketball the way the SEC does football.

The presence of AAU basketball, the year round seasons, the lack of players participating in baseball, and impressive coaches have really allowed the Big Ten to make big strides in the last five years.

The ACC trades Maryland for Syracuse, Louisville, Notre Dame, and Pitt next year. It will be the toughest conference in the country as long as it exists.

in the last 7 years, tSEC has 3 NCs. How many does the big10 have? When is the last time the big10 even won a championship? A decade+ ago?

I agree. You dont have to have the most championships IMO, but you have to at least have 1 recently.

Can't you understand that having the best conference doesn't have to mean having THE best team but having the best and deepest collection of teams? The B1G has this easily this year.

Isn't there a difference between a deep conference and two top tier teams though? Nobody thinks the SEC is dominant, they just have had a couple really great teams.

Thats great and all, but if you never win any championships, it really doesnt mean shite.

I think it's lenient to say hey, you dont have to have the most. Or even the second most.

But come on, you have to have at least 1 per decade. Jesus.

I just don't think a conference can be the "toughest" or "best" if you don't ever have the best teams residing in said conference.

1 NC in 23 years is not the best

The big10 thumping their chests in basketball kinda reminds me of Tennessee fans who do the same. Sure, you won some regular season games, congrats. But you still suck and your empty trophy case reflects that. Better logic?

ACC: 5 (3 teams)
SEC: 3 (2 teams)
Big East: 3 (2 teams)
Big 12: 1

NUMBERS

In the last 10 years I can only think of 3 teams that have made the final 4 from big 10. Ohio state, mich st, and Illinois

Is it capable of being a dominant conference? Sure. Indiana and Michigan are sleeping giants, and if the other 2-3 teams keep pulling their weight then yes. It hasn't been dominant though. And even this year, talk to me after the tournament. How will these teams respond without having been there?
