Vegas Golden Knights acquired forward David Clarkson, a 2017 first-round pick and a 2019 second-round pick from the Columbus Blue Jackets for future considerations

So you trade your 1st this year and a 2nd in 2 years for a PTBNL?

That is Montreal type thinking there

Looks like a salary dump move for NY more than anything else. Is Halverson next in line as the backup to Henrik?

that was a gentlemen's agreement so they wouldn't take Korpisalo and other unprotected players IIRC.

I get that but is Columbus really ready to mortgage its future for a now that is not that bright? Until the Pens show they can't skate anymore, they are going to win that division

The Jackets aren't mortgaging their future at all. This draft class sucks. It was completely worth giving up their 24th pick to protect Josh Anderson. I will also give up a 2nd rounder any year to get $5.25 million off the books for someone who can't contribute a single point. They haven't lost a single top prospect in their system either.

Why did Vegas trade Van Riemsdyk for a 2nd and 7th round draft pick?

Isles are rumored to be offer Hamonic, an unnamed prospect, and a 2018 1st rounder to Colorado for Duchene.

Steph was bad this year and couldnt win a faceoff, not sad to see him go. I thought raanta was gonna succeed hank, but oh well. This clears like 20 million in cap space i think. Rangers need to sign a frontline center now with Oscar gone to vegas.

I want to see Detroit make some big trades, but then I remember we don't have anyone worth trading.

Neither of those trades make sense to me for Blackhawks or Coyotes. Capitals keep Oshie for 8 more years.

The way the Caps worked the money in that deal is fantastic. Front heavy. The 3 years at the end is whatever because they're playing for a cup in the 5 year window anyways now
