Look at the BCS standings the last 15
Years

SEC was LSU, Auburn, Florida and Alabama...that was the conference

Big12 had Texas. OU, TCU, OKie State, KSU. All in BCS games and a lot of Nattys.

Pac had USC, Oregon, Cal (they best USC in 2003 and was the game of the year in 2004) Stanford late decade, Washington (early decade) Rose Bowl Champs.

Big10 had tOsu, PSU, Michigan for most of last decade.

Only ACC almost went defunct when FSU faltered. But now people love them them for Clemson. They weren't remotely the force of the Big12 the last decade. Everyone said the ACC should quit.

So much overreaction and lack of history and perspective.

There has been a lot of BCS teams from a lot conferences.

Big12 doesn't have to hang it's head. They played in a ton of BCS bowls.

But it's always about, what have you done now overreaction... didn't win a Natty last year? Irrelevant.

Houston's not the Coug High of yesteryear. I'm sure Texas still thinks they are however.

Natty's are subjective mythicals.

Big12 produce teams consistently in big bowl games for even their lean last 15 years just as much as most.

Hanging your hat on subjective polling is playing politics as much as football.

Big12 hasn't been an also-ran the last 15 years in the ,BCS era. We all know that. They are in the games.

I think it takes a good decade of being a no-show bottom feeder like Temple CV was before we start kicking people to the curb. Big12 has held its own on the national stage...did they get whooped by USC, yes...but they didn't lose by much to LSU...

And they played Bama tough with a backup QB, sure lost to Boise State but have other TCU and OKie State wins.

Texas beat tOSU at the shoe a year later to eventually beat USC.

Big12 hadn't been blown out in any match but for 2004 USC and most every team who ever existed probably would have been blown out.

They get a bad rap for two nights

Against USC and Boise State.

You're right, national championships don't count for much.

Texas was just being pragmatic with those comments, knowing that other schools in the conference would likely blackball Houston anyway.

I think that you nailed it here.
