Usage rate is not a knock when you are a SG that shoots 50% from the floor.

Had Pippen touched the ball more & shot more, he still wouldn't be Wade's equal because he is not as efficient scoring the ball.

For instance his poor shooting performance in the playoffs the year MJ took off.

I never denied Pippen was one of the best defenders of all time; he had that luxury of playing next to MJ, focusing a lot of his attention on defense.

None of what you posted proved a point, im sorry to say. DWAdes usage rate is not a negative. For instance, he dominated the ball in the 06' playoffs & led his team to a title. You going to sit here and attempt to hold that against him? Lol

I always hate these Pippen discussions because I loved him as a player. Just severely overrated. He's not Dwade

You can't be serious. Pippen was not even close to overrated. All the praise he gets is justified. The best defender to ever play the game and he could score with the best of them. D Wade isn't on his level defensively. I've never seen him completely take somebody out of a game like Pippen did.

Pippen wasn't even the best defender on his team. At times he was the 3rd best. Gtfo

Eta If I'm not being clear enough

MJ>Pippen

Rodman= Pippen

Dennis Rodman was the post version of Pippen. Could guard 3 positions and sometimes a 4th if the matchup was right.

absolutely it did. Pippen did more to help his team win, hence the term Win Shares. A far greater metric than PER.Usage rating is the difference when comparing numbers like PER, because PER rewards touching the ball more. Sorry you fail to understand the correlation.

ETA: also in what world was Scottie an inefficient offensive player? Check the Offensive Rating Stat- Pippen produced just as many point per 100 possessions as Wade.

Okay I can see that, but to knock his defense because he played with 2 of the other greatest defensive players in the NBA is absurd. Plus Rodman wasn't there during the 93 playoff run.

Guy has been balling lately, and seems to be rebounding the ball finally and taking shots at the rim more than ever.Still needs to cut out the 18ftrs and he's awful between 3 and 10 feet. Playing with Rubio seems to help him, he's not a great fit with Love, IMO. I wouldnt extend him yet if I am the Wolves.

Rodman was nowhere near the same kind of defender as Pippen. Jesus, Lester, you need to go watch some ESPNClassic.

Pippen is not even worthy to tie Wade's shoes.

You leave out that Pippens 31 season is when the bulls won 72 games. Now correct me if I'm wrong, a team with a lot if wins will naturally create a higher win share...

Besides, it's also very arbitrary, much like all advanced metrics, especially defensive ones.

I never said Scottie was inefficient,., compared to Wade he is less efficient. Stemming from Wade shooting 52% from the field this year.

They may be equal per 100 possessions, but Wade A) shoots more and B) scores at a more efficient clip, thus making it more impressive.

That stat doesn't account for the unknown fact that Pippen may or may not be able to keep up that efficiency with more shots or more touches.

Rodman almost always drew a tougher matchup night in and night out at that time. The low post talent was unreal.

Perimeter defense of those bulls teams were shared by 2 great defenders. I'm not trying to take anything away from Pippen, but Rodman was a great defender in his own right. It's no coincidence every team he played on won. That's more than Pippen can say

He's a complimentary piece, maybe he becomes Antwan Jamison with a prettier shot. He's not an elite player and is surrounded with Pass Happy guys (which is a great thing) he's only a 31% shooter in isolation, spot ups is pretty bad too. His best work is on the offensive glass, transitions and cuts. If he continues to be a hustle player he could have a long career. I wouldnt call a good player yet and he's having a good second half (so far) I think the Wolves are trying to gauge his value.
