I do these threads for football, but I am fascinated by college baseball as well.

Clearly, the best job in college baseball is either LSU or Vanderbilt. As far as these schools go,
I would rank them as follows:

1. GT
2. UF
3. FSU
4. Clemson

GT has the HOPE scholarship and a good reputation. FAcilities are good, but fanbase is small. Good academics for those kids who care about that.

UF has a better fanbase than GT, but it's facilities are dog shite. They do have a good out-of-state reputation and is an attractive university. UF has SEC in its corner too.

FSU has good facilities, good fanbase, good history. Academics are meh and may be less attractive especially with UF in state too.

Clemson has the best fanbase, but having to split a small state with USC, they're fricked. They can get some out of state kids, but it'll be hit or miss.

I'd probably go with FSU for most of the reasons you listed.

Texas is on the same level.

They are in good position, but they can't go after the nationwide talent like Vanderbilt can or LSU can due to Vandy's financial need-based aid and LSU's TOPS.

Clemson is getting a huge upgrade in facilities (they've been shite for a while now) and they have the best fanbase like you mentioned, but splitting with South Carolina definitely hurts us (although not nearly as much as Jack's overall ineptitude).

I'd move Clemson up a bit and add South Carolina to the list. Also gotta add some of the west coast teams like CSF and others.

OH, the list is just 4 schools I'm comparing. I'm not saying these are the best jobs in the country.

Ah, gotcha.

Then I'd have em:

1. FSU
2. Clemson
3. Florida
4. GT

What's wrong with GT? They are much closer to a hot bed of talent than Clemson is and they have a much better academic reputation and they have the HOPE scholarship that can help free up more schollie percentage for out of state players.

Atlanta is incredible, but I think you severely underestimate how strong the west coast (SD/LA) and how strong Florida is at youth baseball as well.

FSU
GT
Clemson
UF

UFs facilities are pretty subpar from what I've heard. All four of those schools are very close to a ton of talent, the difference is negligible IMO. GT has really underachieved recently

Houston and Dallas are pretty incredible as well. Rice and TCU recruit exclusively in those two areas it seems like and both are top programs every year. And they're sharing that talent with UT, A&M and several other schools

I just can't ever put them that high given how much their fanbase sucks. It's the same reason I laugh when people call them a sleeping giant in football. When your fans don't demand excellence, vary rarely will they receive excellence.

Also, their academics can hurt as much as help when it comes to getting some kids in.

Yeah I don't think it's just a no brainer top 2 either like in the OP. It's an excellent job now that Corbin has everything rolling, but you still have to recruit nationwide. At least that's their recruiting base now.

LSU, ASU, UT and UCLA are better jobs IMO

Carolina too

State size doesn't matter. Both have the success and the support to bring in talent from out of state.

Last year excluded, SC and Clemson were both running top 15 football programs in football over the last 3-4 years. If they can field that their baseball programs can certainly do better.

... which should be known considering both have had a really good history in baseball.

Clemson missed the tourny in 2008... that's the only time either team has missed the tourny since 1999 (and that was the first time since '86 that they missed it I believe)

Central TN has a decent amount of baseball talent (more than you would think), they're close to Atlanta youth baseball, and they can recruit nation-wide easier.

Since Vandy gives need-based aid to just about every student, coupling that plus the .7 scholarship they receive can mean a Vandy education for close to no cost. THere's a reason they've been trotting out a top 5 recruiting class every single year.

But that's just random. Vandy isnt a top 2 program.
