Evangel 02 was way better and the best LA team in decades probably

Beat WM 35-4 in the Dome with 2 bad snaps resulting in safeties. This team is often overlooked. Good call...very strong.

Pro prospects don'e equate to great TEAM. That great Miami Nortwhestern team had a helluva matchup with the weakest Southlake Carroll team in five years from DFW. That being said, I'd take one of the undefeated SLC teams to rep. this thread. And the Houston Yates team from the 80's the wrecked shop in the Houston area.

my years get mixed up sometimes..the year John David Booty was a sophmore i believe and hester was a JR

had Hester, Bachman, the WR that went to OK, Chris Bowers, Keyunata Dawson, Jonathan Wade, Chase Pittman, etc.

Nope. Hahnville lost 41-21 to Acadiana that year. 2002 was Booty's junior year. He skipped his senior year and went to USC. Because of this, Hahnville won the title in 2003.

I think Hahnville would have that game anyway. They beat up EHS pretty bad that game.

Evangel's program, though still solid, has clearly declined in recent years. Is this due to:

a) the drop in classification
b) losing players to Calvary
c) coaching changes
d) all of the above

Any thoughts?

The biggest reason is the men who ran the program along with their sons are gone.

The talent level in the ArkLaTex is way down.

Agreed.

The 1998 West Monroe team was better overall than the 1990 Ruston team. The difference was the WM defense.

Did you go to the jamboree at Ruston. 14-14 tie with WM. Would've loved to see that one go 4 quarters.

South Panola when Derek Pegues was at QB running the sprint option. They went on a 89 game win streak.

2001 Long Beach Poly. Now they did lose to a Maurice Drew led De La Salle team, but that Poly team was loaded. Darnell Bing, Hershell Dennis, Mercedes lewis, Junior Lemau, Winston Justice.

Wow, what a shock. Ruffalo picks a team with guys that went to USC.
